I think this is a great looking MC.  Yea, she has a few scratches but for that price, I would expect it not to be perfect.  Great find and great buy.   :2vrolijk_21: ;D :2vrolijk_21:

My son rode it. He said it ran and drove great.

Just my opinion, if the bike has a salvage title then the $9K should be $6.5 to 7K.

You'll know if the title is salvage.  It'll be marked on the title itself.  So you can buy or not buy accordingly when you see the document before handing over the cash.  If it's a clean title with the dings you've described on the bike I'm glad you bought it.  Because I'd have been way too tempted to resurrect my old 05 with this as a starting point....

If it's a salvage title I'd agree with Chip ^ .  A bit higher than I'd like to pay.  But this is something you can know immediately upon seeing the document.

Thanks for the advice Guys and Gal. I agree 100% about the title. I will find out for sure Monday morning. The guy is pretty desperate to sell. He was asking a lot more but then he layed it down in his driveway. He swears it is a straight and clear title, but we will see.
If it has a salvage title,  then the game will change for sure. He has it financed at the same Federal credit union I use so it will not be hard to find out. Nothing lined up Friday for that to happen.
He was willing to bring it to the Mothership and have it checked out,  but he said he did not have the money to pay for it. My son grew up in my machine shop and went to technical college so he is pretty sharp. I value his opinion and my wife's good eye too. They both said the same thing about the bike, just cosmetics. I can afford to fix all that and still have a nice ride at a good price.
 Thanks again for the advice.
I hope to meet all of you one day soon. We want to come out to Maggie Valley in 2013, maybe will be there on a resurrected SEEG.

If the cam tensioners have not been replaced, they should be soon. I replaced mine at just over 38,000 and they were down to the metal. Got lucky. Just something to be aware of. Change the oil pump at that time too.

Thanks for the advice. I did buy it. The title is clear, no salvage title, no wrecks no bad news could be found about it. It did have a couple of recalls from Mother Harley that were done. All service was done at Harley. Not saying that is great but at least it was serviced.
I will actually pick it up tomorrow because it was snowing here in Texas. Kind of rare. LOL.
I will tear it apart this winter and go through it and give it plenty of attention. Good idea on the cam tensioners and oil pump.
It needs to be cleaned top to bottom. Will need some paint eventually. I believe it was a great deal. The guy is the second owner and he is out of work. So he sold it for what he owed on it.
I am sure there will be some questions and plenty of updates in the near future. It will be a fun project.
 Thanks,
 Ray

:'( Oh no! Don't tell me my old bike made it all the way to Texas!  ;)

Congrats on the new cherry ... sweet color! Good idea to also inspect the shoe for the primary tensioner and check adjustment. When I had mine I replaced the original tensioner with the auto tensioner so I didn' t have to do that all the time. Couldn't hurt to drain all your fluids while you're doing cam chain tensioners. That includes brake fluid also ... a lot of people tend to neglect that ... you need dot 4 for that. Careful you don't over-fill the masters ... leave some room in case brake pads are getting close for replacement. Clutch master also takes dot 4. Plenty of vids on you tube if you need any help with the bleeding procedure.

One more thing ... keep an eye on the mount for that rear headpipe under the curved part of heatshield. Earlier versions of the Rhineharts (prior to updated version) were prone to cracking there and mine did with only 1 or 2k miles on the bike. No biggie, I didn't feel like waiting for new version so I removed it and took to local welder ... was fine after that. Enjoy that new cherry!

2 months ago I bought a project bike from one of my customers. Had to replace a lot of parts.
Well, it looks like I should be riding it on New Years day.  ;)

You may want to check those service records and make sure cam chain tensioners have been checked they should be checked around 30k miles  if they go you could have serious issues.

You're commenting on a 9 month old post.  The issue of the cam chain tensioners was brought up then.
