48hr+ snow in London
« on: January 20, 2013, 10:25:53 AM »

Here's some pic of the st. I live on. It's been sonwing for 48hrs now and 48 more to come it's being constent. This will bring London to a stand still. London dose not have the snow removal equipment or sanding equipment to deal with it. The last time London had a bucket of snow fall on the roads was 5yrs a go and London stopped dead in it's tracks for 3 days. The army was deployed to deal with putting up shelters in the fields out side of the London boundary to give aid to motorest stranded on main routes out of the city up to 5000 strong stranded. Took a couple of weeks to clean that up

I was expecting to see a foot or two of snow for two days of continuous snow...that looks more like what we use to call "a dusting" when I lived in Chicago. :huepfenlol2: Been in Memphis TN since 1980 and down here we don't get much snow either. A snow like that will close schools and grocery store shelves would be bare by now with people stocking up like it will be months before they get out again! :D I must say it has gotten better since when I first moved down...I think now we have some trucks with snow plows and salt. ::) Good Luck, stay home and enjoy the beauty of the snow. God Bless! :2vrolijk_21:

Yep, I gotta agree with you JR...back here in the plains, on days as those pictures show, we might be forced to put on a light jacket.    :P

Longlast, I'm sure with that unusual type weather some folks in the London area will be freaking out....best to stay inside, put a log on the fire and have a pint (or 2 or 3 or ...you get the idea) and wait for the thaw.      :)

Yup!! you guys got it. I've been in mega snow It doesn't bother me but life long Londoners don't and can't
handle it. 95% of drivers can't drive in it every car has sumer rubber on, that enclodes my work van witch I'll
have to drive to work come tomorrow. It's going to be a fun day.

So many things are relative. Sitting on the plane heading back home from Denver to Minneapolis. 24 degrees here, they think it's cold. -2 at home today, that's cold!

A dusting of snow can be a bit** if you don't have plows for the roads. Good luck with the storm!
