        I Just got back from Ground Zero in NYC. There had to be a few hundred if not 500 bikers Mostly Harleys there. Started out with 10 of us guys & a few girls from my friends house, were from eastern longIsland,then met up with at least 200 other bikers I belive HOG chapters from nassau & suffolk counties on the service road of the LIE (long Island expressway) then we went into queens and met A Queens HOG chapter and went over the 59TH street bridge where the NYC HOG chapter escorted us throught to Ground Zero. They stopped traffic along the way as we went by. What a feeling, being part of that run riding through the streets of Manhattan.There were people along the way cheering us on screaming from the sidewalks.
      We went to the site of the World Trade Center, parked all the bikes in the street then went to site and held a memorial for all that were lost and everyone said the Lords pray out loud, there were goose bumps going through me.
      There was members of the Surrey HOG Chapter from the United Kingdom there that made the trip to honor all the lost brothers and sisters and placed a UK flag with a memorial for all the lost. Its 3:15 am i gonna hit the sack but just wanted to get that out.
      A Girl in our group was taking pictures and will e-mail them to me and when I get them i'll post 'em.

Wish I could have been there with you to pay my respects!  I'm from Levittown originally and live in CA now.  Used to work on the 101st floor of #2, and lost a couple of firefighter friends that day.

Thanks for sharing this report. This day/date is still a hard one for me after 5 years. I will never forget what I was doing, what I was feeling as this tragedy happened. It has definitely changed me, and made me more appreciative of life, family, and friends. We never know when our time will come so we must live each day like it is our last. Thanks for not forgetting those that gave there all on that day.

Which HD dealer sponsored the run? Lighthouse HD didn't mention anything about doing a Ground Zero run. Definitely would have gone had I known. I ended up "wasting" $10 to go watch some rice rockets do one handed nose picks and flamigos out at Riverhead Raceway @ the motorcycle fair.

When I did the Ground Zero Independence run in July, it was definitely a "sobering reminder" of how much we all take for granted. Lost some friends and colleagues that day too and even 40 miles away, you will never forget that burning electrical smell. That stays with you forever.

I hope this post doesn't upset anyone, but this is something I wanted to get off my chest. First off, I too will always remember where I was and what I was doing when this tragedy happened. I still cannot watch the video of the events without feeling every emotion there is. But, and this is the part I hope does not upset folks. In my opinion, the fact that we now jump through so many hoops in almost every facet of our lives to me means the terrorists are winning. We live our lives in fear of them, we have given up a lot of freedom, we are constantly reminded of these low life, cowardly, scum bag pieces of chit in every thing we do. I don't know about you, but I am tired of it all. I wish I had more to say than that, I wish I had some answers for how to deal with it all, but I don't. I'm frustrated and angry and tired of feeling like I am a prisoner in a country founded on freedom.

We had spent 6-7 years working in DC, living on a military base we could not afford to live on at that zip code.

Mrs We - I feel for you and you need to know there's a whole world of support out here.

None of us is untouched by what happened - some are more directly affected - others less so but we all have to make the best of what is.

For a while after the bombs in London (where I lost a workmate) there was an unofficial movement "We Are Not Afraid" which basically tried to stick it to the terrorists by showing them they could not break the spirit of free people - no matter how inconvenient or distressing the protective counter-measures were.

I'm proud to say - without any encouragement from me (I am ex-military) my boys and girls - they are my work team - but they are so young

On the anniversary of the London Bombing - 7/7 - my boys and girls went out of the office and stood on the street in silence - as did many others who work in London - to try to show that even though a free world is an easy target

WE ARE NOT AFRAID - we WILL overcome.

Hey guys, sorry it took so long to reply. C-DUCE04 there were a few guys from lighthouse HD (I bought my bike there) at the memorial one member of the group thanked the Lighthouse HOG Chapter for helping out with the run. I dont think it was  an offical HOG run. I'm not a chapter member, it was really just a bunch of brothers honoring the lost & not forgetting them.
 I had to pass on riverhead (glad I did) my sons had football games on Sunday thank god i did, thats where i found out about the run.

It was the worst event i witnessed in my life.I was living in New Jersey back than on hudson river and i watched everything from my balcony after the first plane hit.I was scared to death with what was going on and we had a one year old baby at home. I was worried for her a lot since the event was taking place so close.Than a few days later they started to post pictures of lost ones on the walls of the NY ferry.I still cant bear it.Never been back to down town again since.I just cant stand it.I hope somehow they can stop this madness.
