This is a new issue created by the MOCO starting this year apparently.  When we were researching the 09 SERG that Joe was thinking of buying we found a lot of new rules put in place by Dealee and the MOCO starting in January 2013.  It seams that you can carry the Manufacturers Warranty  on a US bike as long as you have it "re-certified"  at a Canadian HD Dealership and pay the $1000.00 plus certification fee (plus parts and labour) to have it covered.  From my understanding this does not include extended warranty, purchased in the United States, only the original warranty.

I'm not sure about the extended warranty being void in the US because of the new rules, after all it was purchased before the "new rules"were in effect.  If I were you Jer I would talk to the service guy's at American HD and Gowanda HD to see if they know weather or not any warranty work will be covered.  It probably wouldn't hurt to talk with Dale over a Clare's to see what they have been directed by Dealee  :nixweiss:

If this is true, at the least you should be able to get a refund on unused warranty if you cancel it. I would talk to the dealer that sold you the extended war.

You need to first understand that the factory warranty is completely different than the ESP (it's not a warranty, it's a service contract).  Harley and Deeley can control the factory warranty on grey market bikes, just like a lot of other companies do, but the ESP is a separate product handled by an independent company.  Don't bother asking Harley and Deeley about the ESP, contact the ESP company itself.  I believe you will find that the ESP is not affected, but as always it is best to go straight to the horse's mouth.

Here's a question: IF your US warranty is immediately void when you import to Canada then why wouldn't the extended warranty just take over earlier?  i/e a 5 year extended warranty is really 5 years NOT 2 factory and 3 extended?

Because when you buy an extended service plan, a five year is actually only a 3 year plan...2yr factory + 3 yr ESP = 5 years.  So if your factory warranty is voided, the ESP should kick in, but it would only be for three years, not five.  The ESP kicks in, except for the wheel/tire warranty, when the factory warranty expires, or in this case, is voided.

Yup. That was my point. Maybe the ESP Company could make some additional money here. I also assume there would be no impact on the Tire and Wheel Warranty as well as the towing and lodging components.

NET, NET I'm glad I don't live in Canada.
