Don - all I can say is...one thing led to another...first it was simply powdercoat mostly stock 103, then, no, get bigger engine (117), six speed too...gee...since engine and tranny are out, powdercoat both...then...since bike is mostly apart anyway, strip it down completely and do frame and swingarm.

Oh, and definitely too bad about not making Maggie Valley.  But I can't believe we won't get a chance to hook up sometime.  I'm in the DC area occasionally and all the site members in the area is just more incentive to prosecute a trip that isn't work or at least allows enough time to meet and play with others while there.

Perhaps next spring when cherry blossoms are doing what cherry blossoms do we can all look for a target weekend for the Virginians, Marylanders, twolanevisitors and anyone else interested to all get together.

Your bike is most assuredly the bike that HD should have made for us.  We'd all have bought it, no matter what it cost.  But, it's a whole lot more than I'd be willing to do now.  We gotta get together man.     [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Mrs We - thanks for the photo fix and, yes, my meeting with you and the Mr. was way too brief. PJ

Pj, Very, very nice!!  I'd love seeing the bike in person too.  Let us know if you'll be in the southern VA area or passing through.  We attended the Delmarva Rally last weekend, say #4 other red SEEGs like ours..... [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Thanks you guys...your compliments are very flattering and while the project was well worth it to me in the end, it's nice to get some reassurance now and then. There were definitely times that I thought I had lost my mind...but by then I was in too deep to turn back. At one point during the process, various parts of the bike were in PA, NC, TX and FL...of course I live in VA. Then there's the cost. I've got a folder with all the receipts...scary!  My only consolation is that I've got a lot of sweat equity in the bike so I saved a lot of labor $$$. I put most of the pieces back together, but the engine build, powdercoating, painting and upholstery work were sent out...and a lot of things didn't go right the first, second or even third time. Despite the frequent heartache and headaches, I have to admit watching it all come together and firing it up for the first time was a great experience. Again, thanks for your kind words - PJ
