Alright, here are the first direct comparisons of stock heads against the rework provided by Zippers.  Heads themselves side by side later.  This is just exhaust and intake.  Exhaust valve is the same size (at least by eyeball measure).

Intake is a fair bit larger though (relative to the room to work on it).  The old valve isn't well centered for this photo (sorry, just noticed that).  But the difference can still be seen.  Check the Zippers site for a full description of what they do and use for guides, valves, etc.

Sowing discontent is my best thing Don  ;D .  Promise you one thing though.  No one wants the stuff installed more than me.  Have got to leave for close to a week in a few days and knowing I won't get it done beforehand is killing me.  There's a chance the work might get put off until after the turkey holiday.  I really need for it not to change for other scheduling reasons.  But I really want it to change so I'll gain the time to work on the bike.  Now that's prioritizing!

Don't know for sure yet.  Several have asked for first crack at them so there's a line if I end up getting rid of them.  Truth is I don't know for sure myself yet.

Dawg, I'm going to be so happy about finally getting to be in a parking lot with the new colors and diamond cut that that will likely be the only riding I'll be interested in doing for at least a few days.

ERNIE the pics don't do the color justice. I saw them in real life at Zippers. They are beautiful. My next bet is a complete breakdown of the motor to have the cases done to match once he gets the cylinders and heads on the bike. Just MHO But maybe it's because I'm partial to the color RED

Mike, I doubt The Powdercoat Full Monty would ever happen.  After getting just these few parts turned around I don't even want to begin thinking about the hassles attendant to actually having the bike down while doing all that waiting.  Not sure what my frustration level would be.  But am reasonably certain felonies would be committed.

As important as the frustration level though is that I'm not at all sure I'd like the look better.  Have very closely looked over the imagery of PJ's bike.  It is beautiful.  Stunning in fact.  But in another of those "everyone's tastes are different" categories I'm actually quite certain I'm going to prefer the red I've got over the silver bottom end for color and visual contrast.  All red, top and bottom, was really too much for what my personal take on it seemed to look for.  I can completely appreciate the choice to do more.  PJ's bike looks amazing.  I just like the contrasting colors even better.

2Lane, I just finished reading thru all this thread w/ your hassles concerning getting the customizing done and I'm reminded very acutely of just how much those of us that love these machines to be individualized we put up with getting them to meet our expectations.......it's a love/hate relationship for sure.  And yet, knowing this from the last time you undertook a project of this magnitude, you still dive right back in.  I hear you saying that you'll never tear it down to do other powdercoating/cutting/etc. and you reallly, really, really mean that right now, I have no doubt.  But, time heals and just as in the past you said that and forgot the pain and frustration and once again here we are.  I can only say that I'm so appreciative of your sharing the chronology of this project because I've been considering doing the diamond cut on mine for some time now and this just makes me want to ride it as is for a longer time.  Seems the older I get the less patience I have for dealing with the hassles that almost always accompany these 'projects'.  But, when all is said and done......you've gonna be one proud papa when you pullup to the local watering hole on that sparkling cherry beauty!  [smiley=cherry.gif] Man it sure is gonna be worth it......the next problem you're gonna have is sleeping at night when on the road worrying about it in the parking lot.  har~  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]  congrats.   [smiley=2vrolijk_09.gif]spyder

Me too man, me too.  But I catch a flight out later today to land in your neck of the woods tonight for a few real busy days.  Home in time for Turkey Day though.  So I'm thinking over the Turkey Day weekend the bike will get done.
