2013 CVO Ultra issues
« on: January 29, 2013, 12:26:24 PM »

Hey folks,

Just wandering what other problems folks with 13 CVOs are having? I have had plenty of non CVOs over the years and have had normal wear and tear issues, but nothing major.  This is my first ever CVO to buy and I was expecting Cadillac of bikes.  Well since I have taken delivery of the bike in late Oct 2012 and 6k miles later my left speaker is out which has been out since the 2nd week of ownership. My fuel door push button is broke, heated grips don't work and I have found bolts on the bike that are stripped either from factory or dealer I bought from.  I am pretty pissed as of now and I sent a pretty nasty letter to HD HQ and I am awaiting a response.  Looking through this forum I find it amazing how bad the quality seems to be over the years on these supposed "Top of the line" bikes.  Don't get me wrong, I love how the bike rides and enjoy the bike very much, but if I have to have warranty work done all the time it is going to suck to own this bike for years to come.

Well, I guess I just had to vent  >:(

No issues yet with my 13 CVO.  Love the bike....haven't ridden it as much as I would like though.  No issues with my 11 CVO either.  Best of luck resolving your issues.

Sounds like it was the Cadillac Catera model of CVO's.

Sounds like you may have a loose wire or maybe a bad fuse somewhere as the heated grip control is on the left hand side, same as your speaker not working. May be something getting pinched.

Funny thing is that my 2001 Honda Accord V6 with over 225,000 miles has had ZERO ISSUES. Two headlight bulbs, tires, brakes and a new battery. That's it!

My 2011 CVO Streetglide. Replaced speakers and amp, replaced compensator sprocket assembly and rear tire. Only 16,000 miles. That's just 209,000 less than than a middle class run of the mill average daily commuter machine and 38,000 miles less than my 2007 Honda S2000 that regularly gets pushed to 8,000 rpm and has only had tires replaced. Both cars run perfect!

I feel your concern my friend! Love the CVO but it might just be time to rid myself of this fragile machine and buy an old Harley for weekends and used Bmahamauzski (sounds just like its spelled) for touring.

Maybe HD needs to get a better understanding of what quality is. We might be a bunch of dumb ass bikers but if we can afford a $35,000 motorcycle as a toy we can well enough afford something more quality driven.

Wow. That is a lot if miles to ask of a timing belt on a honda.

I hate to sound like I am bitching and I know to expect the usual HD issues that come with their bikes.  But if I pay $38 k for a bike I just expect it to last longer than a few months before multiple issues.  If these all happened after a year of a lot of ridding I wouldn't mind as much. Oh well, just need to get it fixed and hope nothing major happens soon.  Lets see if they reply to the letter...hahahah  I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I just picked up my 13 FLHTCUSE and have had 200 trouble free miles.  I traded in my 12 FLHTCUSE with 34K and only did K checks and a set of tires.  So far I have been happy.  David

I got the ESP, but my bike is a daily commuter and then out of town rides on weekends.  So for me to drop my bike off and let the MOCO have it for a week puts me in a bind. Just wasn't expecting to have to do so in the first 3 months.
