Vintage Stereo Equipment ?
« on: February 01, 2013, 07:02:30 PM »

Is there any value to some old school audio equipment that I have? Like Sony reel to reel player/recorder with auto reverse, looks like new but does need to be serviced, seems to drag a little. Pioneer cassette recorder/player, works and looks great. Sony Direct Drive turntable, also works and looks good. Also have some old albums. Haven't really used any of it since I finally bought a CD player. Paid for all this stuff back in the day by mowing yards lots of yards and I hate to just take it to the dump. Wondering if there was a market for selling this type equipment. Thanks for any input.

Turntables and LP's are making a comeback with audiophiles looking for that "classic" sound.

Good classic equipment is hot. I have a whole system set up and the sound quality is unmatched by the compressed sound of CDs and MP3s. I have my best turntable in the system and 2 high end ones in the rafters for back ups. Cassettes and reel to reel not so much, but a good receiver, speakers, and turntable are hot items out there. If they didn't cost so much to ship I would love to make you an offer on the albums.

Might be interested in the reel to reel. What model number is it?

I don't know much about the equipment,b ut from what I gather the old stuff, especially amps, are becoming valuable.

I do know that some of the old albums can be worth some $$, but it really depends on the album.
