TTS MasterTune (or) Dyno
« on: February 15, 2013, 04:10:07 PM »

I know you guys that frequent these forums get tired of hearing the same chit over and over, but hey, it's always this way with any of these forums.  Anywho, I have a 2012 CVO Road Glide under factory warrenty so I don't want to tinker with the engine yet, but have decided to at least do the Fulsac X-pipe, TTS, and CFR's. My Question is this:  Do I skip the TTS and just have it dyno'd? I think the ECM and my local dyno guy would be around the same price. I'd really appreciate ALL thoughts and opinions to this question as well as on any or all of this particular exhaust setup.  Peace out!  Phil

You need a fuel management system/software to have the bike dyno'd. Install the TTS and ride the bike to see how it performs. If your not happy with the performance or you think it needs to be tweaked then get it dyno'd. I also went with the Fullsac head pipe with the 2" baffles in the stock mufflers and installed the TTS software. The bike runs good but I get a little popping on decel, it can be tweaked a bit on the dyno for better performance. I'm thinking about installing a new set of mufflers for the bike, after I make my decision I'm going to have the bike dyno'd for sure.

Just my 2 cents. 8)

I got the latest version of the SERT and matched it with new Vance and Hines Power Duals with Hi-Out Put Rounds and then Dyno tuned by ED at Baltimore H-D.  Makes  98.5 hp and  97.2 tor at wheel . Very happy with what they did and the CRISPNESS of the throttle is GREAT. About  $ 745.00   NO decel pop and good  MPG  at 44  on open road and 39 when I  run BIG BLUE...

Phil, it's not an either/or situation.  Your local dyno guy still has to use a communications device and software to modify the map in your stock ECM, so you would still have to spring for the TTS or SEPST or PV or whatever package you and he prefer.  Contact Fullsac and see if the maps they supply are compatible with the CFR's; you may be able to use one of their canned maps and then tweak it with V tunes yourself, thus saving the dyno expense. :nixweiss:

I don't know about the CRFs (I've read they're hard to tune properly), but the canned tune I got from HD_dude for the TTS was very good.  Got my bike dyno tuned later, and the results were mixed.  Gained 2-3 hp and throttle response was crisper, but lost 4mpg and have more decel pop and backfiring now.  Probably could use some fine tuning. :-\

Getting rid of the stock pipes/mufflers and getting a good fuel controller or map are the best changes you can make.  Maybe a good cam, too, but everything else suffers the Law of Diminishing Returns.

Also, I have found that all of the dealers I've talked to in SoCal will still honor the warranty with just pipes and a tuner.  The problem is they don't want to do any warranty work until something actually breaks down.  All abnormal noises are ignored 'til something breaks.  :sauer005:

Good luck!
