Get well soon and stay positive - I did the the left ankle on Needles this summer.  Take the "on your back" time to plan your next trip!

Good morning friends at CVO.....

I'd like to thank all of you for your well wishes.  Brings a persons spirit up, no doubt.

Surgeon visit yesterday afternoon..... looks like some infection has started, but antibiotics to the rescue.

Somehow, when I was in the Hospital, I got the idea that it would be 4 weeks and done.........?  Hmmmmm?

I guess it was the morphine listening..... Surgeon says that the average recovery time is 4 MONTHS!  Holy crap.....  not only is that a long time of sitting around, but my employer is not libel to be 'happy' about this.  Actually, I was out for 4 months last year with spine fusion surgery, same employer( spine is great, no issues).  So, I am wondering if anyone in this community can share their real recovery to this "rod in leg" situation.

Thanks again for all of the well wishes!

Sincerely,

Gearheadfmc(Tony)

Sorry to hear about your accident, hope you recover quickly. As far as experience with the ole rod in leg thingy, I hit a car that stopped in front of me 16 years ago and both tib/fib came out the back of my leg through my calf muscle, 3 months with external fixture while skin healed, then the Rod, plates & screws, then the skin graft on the hole in the back of my leg, out 6 months total. Rod runs from knee to ankle still, obvious deep indention in back of leg, limited flexibility of ankle, still walking and riding, however my jogging days have long since been over, took a while to avoid panic when Brake lights would come on in front of me though. Hope all goes well for you.
