for the price of these tourpaks one would think that HD would trim this edge with a rubber edge seal so that this would not happen.

Same problem here. It seemed to me that it was caused when riding two up and the passenger leans into the back rest. Without a passenger the lid clears OK but when leaned on it rubs. I adjusted the latch piece in the lid, arm type piece, so that it moves the lid forward. (moved arm rearward) Seems to help but the damage is already done.

WFP,
I think we met in York at the CVO plant tour in the spring if you are the one with the Deuce cause I have a Deuce also and I am the guy with many problems with the CUSE. Sorry to here you have this problem also.
I just got my striped parts changed, inner primary seal fixed, shifter shaft seal leak fixed, rider backrest replaced and shorted turn signals fixed. A couple of more items and it will be like a new bike.
Service Manager said I set a new shop record for number of events in one visit.
I am meeting with the HD Rep on Thursday about this and a couple of other problems.

Pat

Sure, I remember...you had more problems than I could imagine...hope you at least got in some riding this summer!  Good luck with HD...the whole system is crap...they talk of "family" but in the end they just pit dealer against customer against manufacturer.

Totally different at Thunder Mountain.
Talk about family. Their new website will be up next week and even a picture of yours truly will be in it!
On my bike, the shipping schedule wasn't good enough to get my bike here last week so they put one of their guys in a TMCC truck and brought it here for the Auto Show this weekend.
I have the phone # and e mail address of the owner of Thunder Mountain.
They sent their motorclothes rep to the auto show for the weekend.
Nancy and I saw all the new TMCC clothes and ordered some.
They (Thunder Mountain) make it hard to look any where else for the next bike.
Their service is incrediable!

And that's not bragging just a welcome statement of facts.

Loveland Colorado!

Not to say they are perfect but I'm very pleased!

For example,
The bike was shipped with a hole in the tank panel where the intercom connection should be.
The part is on backorder from Harley so a black plug was put in the hole till the intercom gets here.

They (Thunder Mountain) decided to go ahead and deliver the bike since it was going to the Auto Fair show at Lowes Motor Speedway.

Besides how many people can put a Jim's 120 (Racing only) motor in a bike and have it certified?
It's sooooo quiet that the intake is louder than the exhaust. But that's only temporary!

www.TMCcycles.com

Have only put 200 miles on the bike but it draws a crowd when we do stop.
The "M" bike is a pretty one. Not bad for a plain two tone paint job! The big question is how fast will it be?
I plan to let Hubbard tell that story when the time is right!

Really Bill?  as much as we bitch and moan about everything HD does and doesn't do we still always end up deciding we still want the real thing.  There are lots of pretty knock offs out there, some with very nice manufacture, some that go out of their way to look like the real thing; but still......  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] .

Knock-off yes, but at least these guys do it with 90+% of Genuine HD parts, not cheap aftermarket parts. I have seen these bikes at a local dealer here and have to say that they appear to be very well made. They have been araound for some time now as well.

I've seen some of them in the used market Jim.  No complaint about the fit and finish.  A nice product indeed.  But still not the real thing.  Even if it's a distinction without a difference it still feels real.  And with the used value of "real" Harleys finally starting to soften everyone knows what effect that will have on production clones.
