Sucky year
« on: March 11, 2013, 08:15:03 PM »

Okay, 1 year ago, I was riding the heck out of my Sportster, had put over 9k miles in just 5 months, I was loving it. When my husband surprised me with Scarlett, I expected by by this time I would have Luton 10k Miles's by now. Instead, I was sidelined by surgery June 12-October 12, and diagnosed with cancer November 8th, 2 years, 2 days after losing my mom. I had a full hysterectomy and expected to be back to normal riding like crazy within 6weeks and back to work February 4. Instead, I had a tumor on my ovary, so just finished 3 radiation weeks of treatment, which wasn't too bad... But, here's the kicker. I get to start Chemo, one year after Scarlett was born ( built , but you know what I meant). Anyways, determined to keep riding thru this bump in the road, and enjoy the journey. God is in control and I'm not. I have faith as a believer that Jesus is taking care of me, He has proved it time and time again, but sheesh, I need more road trips and this damned Cancer is interfering with my plans! I am heading to Florida at the end of the month for a week of relaxing with friends, come chemo or high water, they may need to stuff my butt in a wheelchair through the airport if I am too exhausted. I only have 3500 miles on Scarlett, dang it!

Kilaani, don't want to sound trite but Romans 8:28 - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" seems like a promise I might claim in your situation. I've been through some challenges myself, none as frequent or serious as yours, and found this a promise I could cling to and look back on with surety. Our prayers will be with you as you work through your current challenges! Get well soon and get back on that beautiful bike!

Never give up the fight to get back on your scoot. Makes it extra hard when you were laying down some serious miles before the illness. Hang tough!

Kilaani - very sad to read of your cancer. Keep your faith, and you will persevere through these trials.

I have had several friends who have battled cancer over the past several years, and I haven't lost one yet. One of them I go on a private little ride with in October of every year... "Johnny's Annual I HATE EFFING CANCER Ride". We plan to keep on doing it for a very long time!

Thanks for you all replying, I must have missed the notify button! Chemo was great, actually, that was yesterday. I slept through a movie on My IPad with Netflix and no pain, nausea or anything. Today I kept it low key then I had to go ride because. Dammit, yesterday was Scarlett's birth/build day 3-13. Today I made up the miles and noticed in my last post I couldn't count I was actually in the 2900's but today hit 3000 on my ride. Now my new goal is to celebrate my one year ownership day 6-1-13 with 5000 miles....we will see

Aloha, Kilaani:

So sorry to hear of your cancer.  Healing prayers coming your way m'lady.  I hope and pray also that you have the opportunity to wear that bike out and go on to more in your future.  I've seen so many beat this insidious disease and I believe you can too.  Go get em!

God bless,

Good luck! Having dealt with the whole ca and mortality issue it will more than likely make you stronger in the end. Its the time when you find your true friends and those who abandon you like its contagious. Its the time when you ask god why me. When im down and out i run around the house 3 times ( counterclockwise ) then choke a chicken. Seems to work for me im still here.
