Whenever I have an open stretch of road and the wrist needs a break.  I wouldn't want a bike without it.
Same for me.

Thanks for all the responses.

Remember waaaaay back when they only had crank up windows and you finally got a car with power windows? To me it's like the same thing. You can't imagine ever going back.

I ride one handed a lot so it's nice to give my throttle hand a break on those long rides.

On two long trips both times my cruise control stopped working. >:(

Both times it was the switch and both times it happened after it rained. No I am not  :jack:....lol.I started another thread on that but no replies on it.

When it is working on long, open road rides or when i need to use my right hand to do something.

Back when the cars were wide enough to make it hard to reach across to roll up the far window, they came with cranks.  Now that you could just reach over and do it with the seat belt still on, they are all power equipped.  I kinda miss those old sleds with the front bench seats that would actually sit three across.

Use it all the time when I want to maintain a constant speed, for whatever reason. Or if I just want to rest that arm for a few miles. The great thing about throttle by wire is you don't have to worry about tension on the grip like you did with the cable cruise control, so you can "rest" your hand, even when it's covering the throttle grip.  I ride with two fingers covering the front brake lever 90% of the time, so disengaging is never a problem.

On the open road if I'm the lead bike or just riding solo I use it all the time. My system is to accelerate until my gps says I'm over the speed limit and set the cruise control. That way I can keep my eyes on the ebook I'm reading.  ;)

Every time I ride.
We live in the country. Closest store is 25 miles one way. But it takes less to get there and back than in the city. Not traffic, no red lights, only 1 stop sign.
As soon as I pull out of the driveway and get to cruising speed the cruise control goes on and set.
No worry about the speed limit our police doesn't mess with the touring bikes as long as we are withing 20 mph or less within the speed limit.

Every ride that I take, in every traffic situation whether 35 or 75 mph. Same in the car/truck, constantly on and in use.

Does anyone find their right thumb getting numb? I use the cruise when that happens, even in the HOG rides, I try and use my thumb for the speeding up and down to stay in my correct "spot" in the 1 second/2 second distancing. Additionally, as a related question, when do y'all get into 6th? I try not to overuse it at lower "speed limit" 65 speeds, try to wait til the tach is around 3...should I be waiting longer?

My first & last CVO, Scarlett, arrived 6-1-12. I always remember my mom while riding.  She had smarts with a spirit of independence & adventure. "You Gotta LIVE!", was her motto; her favorite color red, and she loved BLING.

I leave it turned off when not using it.  That said, I use it pretty frequently.  In Colorado, speed limits are high - it's nice to be able to set the speed and just relax on those long stretches.

Goes without saying, it's turned off in the twisties...

And on wet roads.  Don't want a back wheel spinning uncontrollably trying to maintain speed when it suddenly hydroplanes or hits a slick spot.  Amazed when on the highway in snowy/icy weather how often you hear the driven wheels on someone's car suddenly spin up because they weren't smart enough to turn off the cruise control.
