That's an Apple thing... Apple will orient the picture correctly when viewing no matter how it was taken... Try taking the same picture holding your I device on all four sides.... when you go back to view them they all will be oriented correctly. This is great when using only Apple products but when you cross platform them then other OS will not do the same and the pics look like they aren't oriented correctly.

That says it. It came with (I think) the 5.0 update. When they made it so you could trip the shutter with the volume buttons. If you put them upper right where you can use your index finger, the pictures are upside down when viewed in a non Apple device.
