2013 CVO Road Glide and GPS
« on: March 29, 2013, 02:16:52 PM »

Just purchased a new 2013 CVO Road Glide.  My only disappointment is that the dealer states that due to the advanced stereo/speaker system, a GPS cannot be used and neither can an XM radio be hooked up.

Any comments/solutions???  I already have a zumo 660 from my old bike that I was hoping to use.

Here is a Zumo 665 (with XM radio) installed with both turn by turn instructions and XM thru the system (XM will play when stereo is on "AUX" input.

Very nice bike.  I  don't know if I want to drill into my fairing though... I suppose it could be handle bar mounted as well. So the GPS just plugs into the AUX that way you get your XM music thru your speakers and turn by turn - no interface system required?

Did you install this yourself or have someone (dealership) do it for you?  I also live in the San Diego area.

Many Thanks.

Dave at San Diego Harley (great tech, only guy I let touch my bike) did it. He removed my voltage meter (which I didnt even know how to read..) and rigged the mount to that spot. No drilling and very "clean" install. All wired thru the fairing so no cables can be seen.

Thanks a lot for the info - really appreciate it!  If been to SD Harley b4 for some things... I'll ask for Dave (only 1 Dave?) re the GPS - think I'll be able to see it better on the handle bars though as my vision is not that great...  So, do you like the 665?  Good XM reception?   You put a lot on a CVO - the original exhaust does suck but I'd like to keep the bike under warranty.

i love the XM, use it every time I ride and the reception is perfect, same as in my cars. I think there is only 1 Dave. I personally dont care for the GPS on the handlebar but if you like that I think it would cost a lot less money doing it that way..

Follow up question... I called SD Harley, they have a couple of Daves.  Did you go to Kearny Mesa or downtown?  Thanks.

Kearny Mesa. Kieran is the service advisor and if you call him he will know who you are talking about.
