CVO Road King 2013 windshield recommendation
« on: April 01, 2013, 05:11:16 AM »

I ordered a red CVO RK in October and it was built last week with delivery expected in the UK end of April. I have a trip scheduled to the Arctic Circle in Norway and little time to source an effective w/shield so looking for advice.

I am 6' 2" with a long back and 32"" inside leg measurement. Seems the standard shield gets thumbs down .

This is my first HD so any advice appreciated.

I find excessive buffeting tiring on a long day but don't mind 'clean' air.

I think most of us FLHRSE5 owners have put the stock Road King windshield on. They are readily available on Craigslist and eBay. I am one inch shorter than you and the windsplitter windscreen had pretty bad buffeting/turbulence. Was worse than riding without a windscreen.

Thanks for your replies that is helpful.

Couple of questions

1. If I buy the stock shield will it bolt onto the MY13 hardware?

2. I notice there are 3 different screen height available. The tallest is 22". Would I at 6'2" see over the shield or look through it? Appreciate the answer may be a guess.

Thanks guys, it has been a long weight to get my CVO.

I had to cut the brackets using the old brackets as templates to keep the ability to detach the fairing when I want to.

The Bob Dron fairing look great!!! How well does it work from a wind blocking standpoint?

I chose the OEM Road King Classic but there is one even 2" taller that the regular one.

Wing on the Bob Dron is about the same as the stock step. It does however give a fair amount of hand protection. I came from an Ultra Classic and the hands bothered me more than my head as I had a 4 inch shield on the Ultra.
