Does anyone know if the EZPass pod works through the batwing? If I were to mount my EZPass to the backside of the batwing, would it work in the toll machine? Look at it this way, It's the same theory of it being mounted to your windshield, right? And the windshield is mils thicker than the batwing... only thing is that you can't hand the officer the pass when he needs it. I just hate the look of the dam thing and even worse, carrying it..
Yes it will - but - it will not work at the crappy toll readers on the small bridges going into PA.
Even if it doesn't read through the faring for some reason, 99% of the systems just pickup your plate and charge the correct toll. There are many times on the parkway or turnpike in Jersey that I have not had the ezpass and had no issues.
Just an FYI, in the fairing is a pain in the butt if for some reason you need to take it out.
LtBawb on this site and 3 friends trailerd their bikes (one open trailer) to Myrtle Beach several years ago. Paid tolls for 5 vehicles all the way down and back.
I had forgotten to remove mine when we went camping in Hatteras several years ago.
In my 5th wheel toy hauler, with 5 layers of aluminun foil and my heavy FXRG jacket over the fairing, and the reader still picked up the ezpass
I now keep the ez pass in the left saddlebag, velcro'd to the front panel near the top of the bag. "EZ" to remove when necessary.
One area to be aware of is any "EZPass only" lane with
a gate and
no attendant - if your transponder is not reading or you don't have it - your not getting through.
