Replacing saddlebags
« on: April 11, 2013, 06:33:37 PM »

I have a 2010 FLSTSE.
:help:
Today I took it out for a spin, stopped about 50 miles down the road at a HD dealership and realized that my saddlebags were no longer with me...  :'( The service guys were like "are you sure your husband didn't take them off?"  Yes, I'm sure I had them on- I'm sure I double-checked that they were attached properly.

I know.  I know.  50 cents for zip ties and I wouldn't be in such a sour mood right now. :bigcry:

Anyway, since I am going to get replacement bags- I am curious what you recommend for a replacement.  Since it would cost me $1500-1600 for stock replacements, I am game for any sexy option that is in that price range.  I could go with a direct 2010 replacement, a lockable 2011-2012 version, a "stock" set, or hard bags painted to match, or whatever else you might recommend.

I look forward to the suggestions- I need something to brighten my day.

Did you find them when you went back to look?
Maybe they can be recovered with real rattlesnake or
Alligator skin..

Mandrew, there are many on the board that feel your pain, next time an ounce of caution (wire ties) is recommended.  You have a great attitude about the whole thing and I love the idea about looking at other options but  think the issue you will run into is that the ConV uses a proprietary mounting system unlike any other MoCo bike.  As such, your options may be limited.  Do keep us posted and ultimately please post pics.

OK- Here is my idea...

I'm thinking about purchasing the brown saddlebags from the 2012 convertible and pairing them with a matching Corbin seat.
I did some rough photo editing to get an idea of how they would look.  Has anyone seen this color combo (brown bags/seat with crimson red model) in person?  I think it might go well with the brownish "metal grind graphics."

I got rid of my leather bags. I felt they made my bike look cheap. After spending 25 gees you think Harley would put decent bags on.
Here's what hardbags look like on my CVO.

Bad news- Corbin said that their seat leather won't match the brown bags (their real leather would be much darker than the bags). bummer. I think I'll go with the 2011 black bags and get a gunslinger seat similar to the one on Corbin's model bike (that belongs to a forum member, right?).

Paconico, those matched hard bags look sharp.

The bags yes, then had my painter do the work. Harley won't release paint codes for CVO's

my wife has a 2010 convertible but really liked the 2012 bags. So guess what,I got them for her. I have a set of like new 2010 bags with the Harley locks installed. I would be glad to sell the set for $700.00. I'm computer challenged so I don't have photos here. but if you PM me I could email them to you.
