Not sure if this will help or make matters worse but here goes.
I met a rider that has a "Fire/Rescue" bike, basically a Red Police Bike.  One of the first things I noticed wad a circular puck on top of each saddle bag lid.  I asked if they were antenae' and was told that they are the lid release, designed to be opened while sitting on the bike or if the officer had to lay the bike down he could still open the bag.
Not sure if these would work with the speaker lids but maybe this plus the shelf that someone else mentioned, might could be doable.

Hi Lauren.  The saddle bag guard bag worked well on my former SG.  Really handy for the small stuff you mentioned. I've been riding more with the chopped tour pack lately.   That's a big way to store small stuff, but quick-action compared to rummaging around in the saddle bags.

That looks better!  My problem is that I have the dash pad on my fairing and I don't want to remove it.  I bought the Kuryakyn and took my utility knife to it and did some fabricating to make room for my GPS on the left pocket.  It now fits pretty good and I think I'm going to be happy with it.
