Next Year's CVO Line-Up
« on: September 28, 2006, 01:12:11 PM »

So my neighbor, Kawasaki rider  :-? has been promising to get a Harley ever since I started him going to Sturgis three years ago.  First his excuse was he wanted to wait until his 60th birthday and his retirement finances were better - okay, reasonable excuse.  He thought he wanted a Road Glide until he saw a bunch of Street Glides at the rally this year - okay, get what you really want.  The '07s came out with 6 speeds, automatic primary tensioners and the 96" engine, and it looked like he was finally ready - next spring - upgrading it to a 103".  Now he heard a rumor from one of the area dealers that both the SG and RG are due for a CVO version - you guessed it - next year in '08, so they would probably have the 110" engine from the factory.  So he's probably going to wait ANOTHER year to see if it's true.  The guy is killing me!  Has anybody heard which bikes will be CVO next year?

If it does it will be another SEEG. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] The SG's first came in to existence in 2006 after the last year of the SEEG's. My belief is the MoCo saw how the SEEG's sold and produced a model similar w/o having to make it a factory custom so owners could do the customizing themselves.

Agreed d00d...

I do think that the touring model for next year will be an RG...don't see a water cooled big motor 'till '10, if then.  The Vrod engine, as it exists now, would not make a good true touring bike, in my opinion.  Sport Tourer...yes.

SOMEONE SAID (A SERG would make sense since past practice is two years of any model and this is the 2nd year for a SEUC.) SEUC HAVE BEEN 04,05,06,07

Thanks for coming to my defense d00d  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] since I've been asked politely by the mods not to pick on newbies  ( hmmmmm  what happened to that policy when I was a newbie ? )

That's what I've been telling him, he could easily make a 103" do as well or better than a stock 110".  I think he likes the idea of not having to take a new engine apart for the upgrades (Kawasaki rider remember - opening the engine on his involves a saws-all).  Anyway, I don't think he's blowing smoke - it took the guy three days to decide on a pair of chaps last year, so this choice is probably wearing him down.  Thanks much for the responses.
