A question for the iPhone gurus,...
« on: May 16, 2013, 12:59:23 PM »

I just got an iPhone5, (Thank you Melanie and Roger!)

Earlier this year HD Dude installed the IronCross iphone interface on my '06 Crimson. I just noticed that the plug for the iPhone5 is smaller than all the other iProducts I have. Is there a conversion cable to change over the older style plug to the newer one so I can use it?

..... but it does not allow all of the former functions to always work in all environments.  Mark, I only personally know of one bike that has the ipod adapter you're talking about.  That guy went to the new iphone and the new cable didn't work for him.  If I remember correctly his phone would charge.  I think I even remember him saying that music would start (but not nearly sure of that, it's been awhile).  For sure he said that the handlebar controls of the phone or ipod (he had new versions of both) no longer worked.

I have the Harley iPod interface.   I tried the Apple adapter (not the cable) last weekend, and it worked just fine with my iPhone 5.  Now that was with the HD interface, YMMV.

Mark, While I have not personally tested it the iPhone 5, the lightning-30 pin adapter is suppose to work fully with the unit I installed on your bike.

Stu is correct....ask for a "Lightning to 30-pin Adapter".
The part number is MD823ZM/A but don't think that is necessary to order....

Define great. Do you mean full control of all functions with the handlebar controls?

Great news for this issue.

I found a bluetooth adapter that plugs into the 30 pin connector. It is designed to make the 30 pin speaker docks work with the new phones. I just plugged one into my IPOD connector and now my iphone phone streams music, pandora radio and turn-by turn commands from the GPS map.!! They are about $25 and the size of a IPOD nano.
