hey everyone my wife just finished her motorcycle course and is wanting her own bike im lookin for opinions. i know cvogirl has a streetglide as do a few other women on here but what did you start with i know for me it was a cvo duece
i also know a sportster wont work for her as she is 6 ft tall with a 35in inseam im thinkin a softail heritage or deluxe may fit the bill. thanks terry

Congrats to your wife's achievement.  Alot of women seem to like the Heritage due to low center of gravity but most don't have 35" inseam   :nervous:
Heck, I dont neither more like 30" and getting shorter ... LOL.  There is plenty of options with the bike versus a deuce or many others.
If she thinks that a RK, Street Glide, or any other bigger bike is intimidating its just mental thought.  Your money best spent is on her near future
of experience.  Just my 2 cents.  Good luck with your choice and many miles with your better half ...  :2vrolijk_21:

May try one/some of the "Demo Days" @ dealership's... Let her ride as many bikes as she thinks she may be interested in and decide from there... you can sit back and get the last word in when she picks the one she likes... "yes, dear". ;D

I totally agree with the other's on this thread.  You wife is more than capable of handling the "bigger" bikes.  She will outgrow the Deluxe and Heritage in one summer!  I wish I would have skipped this stage and gone right to the SG.   :P

Here's a safe and cheap alternative for the short run.  Buy her a $4,000 old rice burner and let her get her feet wet. There's a lot more than just sitting on the machine. Learning how to dodge and stop real hard on a heavy "learning" bike can be tough and dangerous.

Get her a cheap used light bike for the summer and then catch a deal on a new CVO Streetglide in the fall/winter.

Get her head on a swivel first and then let her focus on her new Harley.

Be safe out there!

You wife should get the bike that she feels fits her and is comfortable with not the bike you want her to get.

Mine got a Sportster, lasted 18 months, moved to a Heritage.  Luckily it was during the 100% MSRP trade on the sportster for the Heritage.

She had put 22K on the sportster.

Her 09 heritage has 90K on it.  It is still her favorite bike

She had an 11 Street Glide, and just traded it for her 13 Street Glide.  The 11 had 38K on it when she traded it.

She loves her street glides, but like I said she kept the Heritage and likes it best.

Reason she gets the street glides is for cross country trips its more comfortable, and she can carry more stuff.

Since April of 2007 when she got her first bike she has rode just over 150K miles.

She has two bike, the Heritage and the Street Glide.

My daughter is 6' tall and she took the riding course like your wife. She bought a SG and absolutely loves it. The only thing she says she will do different when she gets another bike is it will be a SESG.

If I was 6' tall I would have fit my CVO RG perfectly. Instead I had to do some work with the bars and seating to fit me. I say tell her to go with the RG  :) She certainly would outgrow a Sporty as I did within a few months of owning one as my first bike.

My wife's first bike was a Sportster and I think it was a good choice. (She received her 25 yr. HOG member patch last year).  -Nothin' wrong with Sportsters.  They are lighter and easier to handle.  If she likes it, and keeps on riding, she can always get a bigger bike.

Nice bike... but in a year or so, I'll wager that she will want to trade up to a Street Glide... :)

Softails look beautiful, and they feel nice putting around town... but out on the open road they don't compare in any way to a Touring bike.
