I now belong to the 110 rebuild club
« on: May 26, 2013, 10:47:52 AM »

Hi Everyone,

My 110 began making engine noise and I had it towed to the dealer.  One or more of the lifters bearings released into the engine and destroyed all of the other bearings.  Bike has 29995 miles and the standard warranty is up on May 31st.  My other bike another 110 engine was replaced at 9850. Go figure.

With luck like that, I assume you have no chance of ever hitting the Power Ball.

Seriously, it's stories like yours that convinced me several years ago to just keep my old bike and let Harley keep their new and unimproved versions.  Not only are they unimproved, IMHO they have gone seriously backward when it comes to reliability.  That's what usually happens when management cheapens the product for short term financial gains.

Hi Jerry,

I agree!  I never buy a service contract due to I figure it will last until I am ready to buy another.  But it this case it is like winning the Lotto.  I will get my money and more out of it for the next three years.  I figure at least 1 new engine per bike during that period.  It like buying a new bike every three years.

I am a stock kinda guy.  I figure if I get more power out of it, it will break sooner.  Also, getting it repaired is a no brainer, complete stock engine, no complaints from HD on footing the bill.

Yip, how do HD live with there selves, they just rely on us shelling out more money and we just get P****d Unfortunately mugs like us just continue to do so, mine also dead, and I can't get a 2007 RK motor the only one listed in the Dealer Catalogue are 2008 to date, different mounts and stabilisers mountings.
Waiting for HD Uk to come up with an answer.
Could end up having to fit a S&S, great advert for their CVO Prestige Brand
