They also have the 6cyl Ecoboost engine and will take almost any stock V8 on the market today. It's fast and has lots of torque for pulling.

Takng an econo-motor and turbocharging it for a FS truck is probably not the greatest idea Ford came up with.

I had a 6.0 1999 Silverado 2500 Extended Cab 4x4... loved it... never an issue.

in '07 I sold the '99 and bought a current generation Silverado Crew Cab for more people capacity since I dont do much in-bed hauling, I also opted for the 1500 with the Vortec MAX package... my biggest compaint was too much torque management. (An aftermarket tune took care of that)

The Dealership also sells Toyotas, and the New gen Tundra had just debuted at the same time... initially there were a slew of engine failures.... all taken care of by Toyota, but still a new vehicle issue.

Would I consider a Toyota?... Lets hook it up to 10,000lbs and then I'll tell you (never mind the commercials)... I like a predictable, capable truck that can double as the wife's DD if need be.

This is a somewhat (comical) post as most that are here ride Harlelys.........and as a CVO site,  very expensive Harleys.   Which usually brings about the (made in America) drill..............even though many of us gripe and bitch about the many and sometimes major problems with our H.D. (USA made bikes).

As a Chevy lover,  I've had many and several have been and currently are trucks.  Several yrs ago,  I bought an '80 4WD Toyota pu.  It served me well for many yrs.   A little 4 banger,  but with the 4WD,  it could pull my 17.5 foot bassboat up the ramp as well as haul well over a normal load of gravel for such a small truck.

Right now,  I have an 2005 Chevy Avalanche and love it,  my last truck befor was a '93 Chevy 4WD.............I'd be looking (if in the market right now) for another Chevy.........then Toyota,............then Dodge..............and last Fix or repair Daily.

Since this is a CVO site, I'd assume you would want something similar for your four wheeled transport.  Take a look at the folks who originated the concept that Harley copied when they started CVO (SVO, Special Vehicle Operations, eventually changed to SVT, Special Vehicle Team).  SVT has a nice Raptor truck that would look really good parked next to a CVO.  Over 400 horsepower and torque, excellent off road capabilities, and also has the luxury amenities.

Ford all the way! My latest company truck is a 2011 F-150 with the eco boost, 45,000 miles and 0 problems and 20+ miles per gallon and not a squeek or rattle! Very happy.

In the last 20 years I've had over 25 heavy duty pickups.  In the 90's Dodge had the only good diesel motor on the market, their transmission, brakes and suspension really sucked.  The Ford Powerstroke wasn't in the same league and Chevy was a joke. 

In 2001, Chevy came with the Duramax and Allison.  Great engine and transmission.  Surprisingly the Chevy suspension also led the pack. Proves you don't need to jack them up in the air to have a good suspension. 

Currently, all three are very good trucks.  Ford has fixed the Powerstroke problems, Dodge has a much improved transmission and brakes.  Chevy has improved the Duramax. 

Currently, I've got 4 Chevy ton dually's with the Duramax and Allison that we use the crap out of on the farm.  I think I will try a Dodge next, they are more willing to deal than the other two. I've been around diesel's a lot and the Cummins is definitely a great engine, even my John Deere lawn mower is a diesel.  The only gas engines I've got are 2 Harley's.

If you really want to pull a load, there is no comparison, buy any of the big three diesel's.

Check out Bonham Chrysler in Bonham, TX. If you are looking for a 3/4 ton Dodge these guys will deal.  Just bought a Ram 2500 Laramie and it was $8-10,000 cheaper than other places I looked.

I tend to, first, buy locally, then provincially, in Canada, next the US, then I'd rather buy from a country I could drive to as opposed to China.

Just leased a Tundra 5.7 Flex (E15 is coming whether we want it or not) Crewmax with the towing package.  I've had a F-150 in the past, and it is nothing compared to this thing.  My father in law has run the wheels off of 3 F-150's pulling heavy equipment compared to the Tundra he has right now.

The Toyota rides better, pulls a load more stable, and was made right in San Antonio, TX.  I realize the profits go somewhere else, but when most of the parts are foreign anyways, keeping peeps employed in the USA is just as important.  Looking for a trailer now.

I wouldn't drive a Toyota if they were free. Chev/GMC 6.2 first, then a Ford 6.2, but only if GM goes out of business. Currently have Denali with 6.2/403Horsepower and it is amazing, great mileage and awesome power.
