Not from that area, but several years ago rode for 4 days in Ky/Oh. One road that I remember was Hwy 52 from South Point to New Richmond. For the most part it stayed right along the Ohio River and was great!! Bout 4 hrs with stops.

If you're heading north to south, pick up OH555 in the Zanesville area and run it to Marietta. Been dubbed "Ohio's Dragon". Rode it last year. I don't think I ever got out of third gear on the lower end. 63 miles of hills and turns.

Wanted to thank everyone for their input. Stayed in Marietta for three days, road just about every road in the area including 550 and 555 and several others. Had a great time and a lot of fun.
               Thanks again Jonnierock

Rt.255 & 26 near New Matamoras, as well as Rt.7 along the river.

Myself and a few of my friends are going to the same area august 1 weekend. Are there any places or roads you would avoid? Any great lodging suggestions for three couples?

Do not, under any circumstances, stay at the Aldeco in New Matamoras.  At $34/night it was overpriced.

We used Marietta as a home base, the best rate we found was at the Super 8. From there you can hit a lot of beautiful roads. Hope this helps.

WE would love to find a cabin or a lodge in the area as a three night base but having a tough time finding one available. We can always book hotels as a last resort.

Try VRBO.com, have been surprised several times. One I remember was a 4 br, lakefront home w/pool in Orlando, Fl, for $525 for the week.
