CB communication question??
« on: June 20, 2013, 09:32:02 PM »

Hey I would like to add a com unit to my road glide. I was told at the shop that at the time they don't have anything for the road glide custom. If anyone has any idea about one could you let me know. I was told due to the radio it could not be done. I am sure someone has figured it out aftermarket. LOL
Thanks,
Mark

If its HK it can be done, but the rewiring job is not cheap or for the faint of heart. Search this site and you will get a idea how diverse the wiring harness has become. Ten years ago the baggers all had the same harness and empty plugs, now they make a specific harness for each bike and the plus are missing, however the pin ARE on the back of the radio so what you have to do is custom wire your harness to have the right plugs so you can plug in the cb unit and the controls. In 06 I wanted intercom , well swimbo gets intercom, it was by far cheaper to get a bike w intercom on it than add it to a bike without it.

I am not having much luck at all. About the best option I found so far is the handle bar mounted unit. You just work it with you fingers. Not a good looking option but it would work. I have the guys at the shop looking into it.

If you have a hk radio on the bike you can install the hk cb module, what you have to do is rewire the bike to accept the ultra harness, basically you need the elect diagram and make the harness. Many models of bike are missin the 6b connector in recent years, somitsvtrue the dealer can't help but folks can do it

I did a search of the site for 6b

First entry is "xm and probably cb"

It's all the same problem with the new harness missing plugs

Thanks for the info. I am going to go talk to them today about it. They told me it would not fit, I am not sure if it is due to the electrical or due to the module not fitting. The said something about there not being enough room to mount the CB module. I will go make sure.

Well I talked to them again. They finally got in touch with someone that said it could be done but would not elaborate on how. He did tell them it is due to electrical issue, which is the missing plug. I have someone that is getting me the info so hopefully I will know soon what needs to be done to get it going.

Look for posts started by Harleypingman on this subject.  He has done it and documented it nicely.

Well I am working on getting this done. Lots of good help and info on here and from a few of the members. I am running into one problem though. The CB bike to bike module 76416-06C is now obsolete and there is no sub yet from Harley. I am trying to locate one. I had someone offer me one from his bike that he does not use, but he found an older one for cheaper that he sent me the info for that I am not sure if it will work. The item number is 76236-06A, If anyone knows if this one will work with the advanced Harmon Kardon radio please let me know. Or if anyone knows where one is at please let me know.
Thanks

This is what you need to do the CB install. It takes some time but is very doable.
