Tachometer Problem..."Thoughts"
« on: June 23, 2013, 05:29:55 PM »

I have a 2013 SE Ultra with 2500 miles...just got back from a short 4 day trip with the Ohio H.O.G. rally and during this time I experienced problems with my tach. After riding for several miles, usually when the engine gets really HOT, the tach stays reading at 2 or 3 grand, then when you let it idle it stays there, then when you take off and accelerate it starts reading from the last position...say it showed 2000 at idle, then it calculates from that point where it may show 4000 when I know the engine is really only turning 2000 rpms. Then if it stops at 4000 and you rev up again it will shows from that point up. Hope you understand what I am trying to explain. I know it's under warranty but what thoughts do you have or has anyone else experienced the same thing. Thanks for bearing with me.

Mine is quirky too. Doesn't do exactly what you described but is very erratic, especially on decell. It seems to hesitate every 200 rpm's or so, very choppy and seemingly not in time with the engine rev's.

so sorry i haven't answered earlier...yes, they replaced the tachometer. i actually waited over a month for it to come in as it was back ordered twice, meaning there was more demand for them then they had on hand...so there must of been a problem with them. i have since put about 2000 miles on since being replaced and no problem yet...and i say yet crossing my fingers.
