Anybody?

It's pretty ugly, Dave - so I can't see there being a rush!

Hi Jim - I had a look at that - there's a retaining ring to buy too which pushes the price up to $450

Does your HD HID (confusing innit?) upgrade have any indication (on the lens) of dip direction - or is it a symmetrical dip?

Just thinking about MOT inspections in the future - not an issue if you keep changing your bike of course...

Cheers

Dave

Yes, it's that damn retaining ring that doesn't fit with the trim ring worth a damn on my HD one, Dave.  It's - as it would be for the US - a symmetrical dip.  That wasn't a problem for an MOT on my last bike (different headlight, US Spec) but an attentive tester would notice no sidelight, and no "E" marking.

On our 07, the stock lighting is much better than the 06.  I've only upgraded the spots to the 881's, which made a noticeable difference.  The difference is the high beam pattern.  The 07 is a nice full circle with the center lighted nicely.  The 06 has only an outer ring of the circle lit.  It's been like this since day 1.  It's not safe to ride at night with the 06.  The 07 does just fine and will do great once I swap the wiring around to get the spots on all the time.  Anybody else notice an improvement from the 06?

I've got the HD HID on my 07.  I really like the bright white light and dont have any fitment isssues (I still use the stock cover ring).

I would like to replace my spots as they look very yellow in comparison.  I was at the Galveston Bike Rally last weekend and the guy from Kuryakyn says the 2214 replacement bulbs are the way to go...  Anybody have any experience with these or have a better bulb idea?

Thanks,

Mark

I also have none of the fitment issues with the trim rings that are talked about here. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I'm amazed at how I seem to be the only one with the problem - the mounting ring that comes with the HID, has a second ring, connected to the first via the spring loaded adjusting screws. That second ring - i.e. the one the headlamp actually mounts to, has large squared off lugs one of which in particular prevent the trim ring from sitting on properly, mainly because of the clips that hold the rubber seal in.  I struggled with this for ages, and got nowhere.

Again, did you fit yours yourself, 103T?

A dealer did the original install, but I've had the outer ring off working on the height adjustment of the light and had no problems getting it back on.

I remember you bringing this up in the past and explaining that here are some clips that hold the rubber seal in place in the trim ring.

I wonder if the HDI models get a different trim ring?

Jim,

Dealer did it since I bought at the same time as I bought my bike (wanted 2 year warrenty..)

103T,

Gonna try the 881s like you did -- which model works on my 07 (h1, h3, h4...)?

Thanks,

Mark
