New Breakout Review
« on: June 30, 2013, 03:02:27 PM »

Guys - I picked up my red Breakout 10 days ago, it is beautiful and I am very happy with the bike. I traded a 2010 Softail Deluxe.

Likes - Almost everything. The bike handles much better than I thought it would with such a wide rear tire, it even handles bad pavement better than my Deluxe. the engine has good power, needs a bit more, but it is fun to ride. I also think HD did a great job with the finish and trim of the bike, it is worthy of the $27K price.

Improvement areas - Handlebars are a bit low and forward for me, I may have to find another option. And finally, the bike is too quiet. This bike needs (and will get) a tuner and new pipes. HD could have included that as part of the CVO package but I guess at least now we have flexibility to choose our own style and tone.

I will get the SERT and new pipes when I take it in for the first oil change, I only have 300 miles on it.

I hope you guys enjoy your bikes as much as I like mine, they did a great job with this bike.

Congrats! I have the black one. I actually picked up the tuner this weekend, I was overheating a bit so I got a quick map at the dealership. The EITMS didn't even kick in after the tune so I think it was a success. I think I have decided on the bassani short megaphones. I am waiting for the 1K service for that too. I have had mine for 11 days and almost doubled her mileage with an awesome ride yesterday. This rain needs to stop!

Looking to get one myself.  Love coming here to read about them.  Please post more observations and thoughts anytime!
My budget has me looking at a standard, black one.  I dig it, but that CVO is soooo nice.

That thing just looks like a piece of candy.  Dangerous, fast, bad-ass candy.

Dig it. :bananarock:

the exhuast is definatley the first mod to make- agree that it is about as weak as it can get.  I was told that HD puts these exhausts on to meet EPA guidelines.  I just put some Rush slip ons on mine and the thing sounds 100% better.  I am guessing you will put that 1000 miles on pretty quick 8)

sweet ride, isn't it?  when you get those "torpedoes" off the bike and richen up the AFM with a tuner, you will then experience this bike like HD intended.  I'm pretty sure HD engineers don't like having to run these bikes lean and with quiet exhaust-EPA police are all over them...

Oh, yea, reflectors have to go and relocate the license plate somewhere other than the rear fender-man that is seriously ugly placement.  I get that HD had to do it that way to ensure legality in all states, but wow, it's nasty............several of us here have used either swingarm or axle plate mounts with great success.

We have a very rare bike(around 550 or so of each color in North America), and if they don't make a CVO BO in 2014, it will be even more rare.  It's so cool riding something that you will likely never encounter another one of-ever.... :2vrolijk_21:

I agree with everyone here, and yes it is great to have a rare bike. I put 1300 miles on in the last 4 days going down the east coast and back. Some of those bumps on 95 go through like a shockwave. I had it tuned before I left and agree that should be first. My pipes already turned blue before I had a chance to tune it. I will keep the originals after I upgrade. I had so many people comment on it and many haven't heard about the Breakout, let alone the CVO. I logged about 500 miles in the rain alone. I hit some pretty wicked downpours and she never skipped a beat. I even used the antilock brakes on 95 and it was pretty impressive even with the dual disc fronts. I had to get the 1K service at New River Harley in Jacksonville NC. They even detailed for me after they serviced but the storm shortly after took care of that :)

[/quote] I think a regular production Breakout  all "blacked out" would look HOT!! HOT!! HOT!!  I'm not a fan of the two tone black n chrome on the same parts, eg headlight, exhaust, primary, etc. . . .  even tho I have a black n silver CVO, its just different.  Two tone went out a long time ago, like the two tone Rolex Submariner.  Think you could make a killer bike without the CVO price tag.

A standard black one with CVO wheels and a nice set of pipes and it would look sick!

The standard breakouts seem to sell for 20K here in SE Washington.  I started adding up the mods to get the standard where I wanted it and I fast approached the CVO price.  There's a video on Youtube from a dealer that takes a stock black breakout and puts apes on it along with the CVO style turbine wheels.  Those mods alone you gotta figure you're looking at 23K from the dealer.

Yes, and your accessorizing  probably did not even include the 110b engine, I presume?  I have always felt from the very beginning that the CVO Breakout is an absolute steal, IF the bike is outfitted the way you want.
