124 procharger Rebuild?
« on: July 01, 2013, 10:29:31 AM »

Well guys an update on an eariler post. Bottom end is out and being repaired as we speak. Thinking about backing the power off this thing and would like your opinion from experience. 124 9.75 compression at 11-12 lbs of boost. Build sheet says T-man 662-2 cams and a lot of hp and tq but it makes the number right at red line and I'm not sure how practical that is. My thoughts were maybe a little less boost and a cam that makes a ton of Tq in the 2500-4500 range. Is there a better cam choice out there. Not looking for a numbers king or 200 hp that it has now. Suggestions?

Best person to ask would be Frank at Drago's bike works. Nobody does more procharger builds than him.

Well maybe I'll do that. Just go online and find his number.

So we have started the rebuild on the 124. It had a fueling oil pump in it. What would be my best option on a replacement? I'm guessing the HD version would not be the best option?

It is a 3 stage pump which pulls oil from the cam chest and the cases individually keeping the engine from sumping.

I have one, it works as advertised. The machining quality is top shelf

Over @ HTT Frank Drago posted a dyno sheet of a 124" with a cam that had .600 of lift with 6lbs of boost He is gonna be the man to speak with about cams for your 124" with a ProCharger >>  http://harleytechtalk.org/htt/index.php/topic,63612.0.html

I had an '04 with a non-turbo 124" that had 125 ft lb torque at 2500 and just kept pulling until I ran out of exhaust pipe.  Cam was the T-Man .625

T-mann's 625. I have used them on my 95in build and in my current 117 build. has given me good usable torque from 2500 up in both motors.

Well it looks like I will be starting over. Just heard from Darkhorse and the crank and cases are shot as well. Heads look ok and the cams are good. So I'm now looking at a crate motor or a new build. Thinking about going with a 124. Not sure at this point if I'll put the procharger back on it.. It suks, just bought this bike, put less than 500 miles on it and it just comes apart.

Steve @ GMR posted that S&S is suppose to have a complete S&S engine that uses a S&S designed lower engine case to fit 07 and newer Twin Cams starting in August. The engine case design has somehow gotten around the Harley patent engine case design.

Worth inquiring I think
