CVO FLHXSE3 Rear Amp
« on: July 11, 2013, 01:18:22 PM »

Question on the rear amp of the Street glides cvo's...why is it that the rear amp only pushing the 2 saddlebag speakers is a lower volume output than the front amp pushing the fairing , lower fairing and dash tweeters ...is there a way to get the volume output of the rear up...thx for all reply's in advance ...

You can run the front/rear balance toward the rear a bit.  I agree, however, as it's not really that loud.  I run the balance about two bars to the rear and it really helps.  If it still doesn't give much output, may be a bad amp or a connection that needs seated... :nixweiss:

Same result here. Some months ago I  installed HD amp and Saddlebag speakers on my 11 SESG -----I run the fader 2 clicks to the rear. Don't think 5x7s are as functional as 6.5"s plus being behind you at highway speeds I think you lose most of the sound anyway in the wind. I still like the system though but it doesn't work near as good as my Arc/Focal setup with only fairing and lower fairing speakers on my SERG.

thx for the responses rec'd.... amps are good and connection is good as well...no issues with amps or speakers...

the method suggested about running the fader 2 clicks to the rear may work...but that only lowers the output of the fronts to fool the ear that the sound level in the rear is the same...

the front and rear amps are identical and have the same part numbers, so you would think the rears would be just as loud as the fronts or even louder since it only has to carry to 2 rear saddlebag speakers...I think the lower output level of the rears is in the HK head unit... thoughts...

I have the same concerns and my rear speakers actually clip. Fade all the way to the rear and turn it up and see if yours do it too. My fronts work fine with no complaints but the rears I think are worthless unless your sitting still.

I wounder if the rears get louder as your bike gains speed?  You know, how our stereos get louder the faster you go? Just a thought, don't crucify me now.  :o

I faded to full rear only ... volume set at max with bass at half and full ...no clipping at all...just plays away loud...but not as loud as fronts...

From what I can tell, and with my wife's opinion, the rear speakers are more for BSRs, sort of making up for the tourpak mounted speakers Ultras come with. When Riding solo I can barely hear the speakers, until I turn my head a bit. Our ears arent shaped to hear directly behind us very well.
