I bought my 13 cvo ultra in October and it still has stock pipes, no tuner and stock air filter as well i have 16k miles on it.  Mine is a daily driver and so far the only time mine gets hot is when sitting in traffic or at a long light the left side will get a bit hot.  It also doesn't help that right now it is on average 100 deg outside.

That being said from previous bikes I have always changed the pipes and put on tuners and that usually helps.  Its the nature of the beast
