VANCE & HINES HI OUTPUT MUFFLERS SLIP ONS AND PIPE QUESTION
« on: August 19, 2013, 11:50:43 AM »

Hello Guys

I own a 2013 RG CVO and had the Hi Output slip-ons installed when I purchased the bike. I need some help

What is the difference between the power duals and dresser duals?

Will the pipes make the bike a lot loader? (which I am looking for)

How does it improve the power and performance?

Thank you in advance Gus

The power duals have the xpipe design.  The dressers do not.  I would get the power duals.  With a good tune.  That would be my stage 1.  If I wasn't a 2-1 guy.

I personally had the V&H dresser duals with Bassani slip ons on my 2005 Road Glide with 95" Big Bore kit with Andrews 26G Gear drive cams, I then had the V&H Power Duals with High Outputs on my 2011 CVO Road Glide Ultra and had it dyno tuned and was getting 104 hp and 124 Tq. Bike ran awesome!!!

I currently have the same bike as you the 2013 CVO Road Glide Custom same color as you, and I put dresser duals on it, mainly because I think the Dressers look better and I had been considering getting CFR slip on's and had spoken with Cary Foss who told me that he personally didn't like using an X pipe because it really didn't make much if any additional power over the dresser duals in his testing with his mufflers.

Now after waiting close to 12 weeks for the CFR's and requesting pictures from them of their new design everyday this past week and being told they would email them right out to me, and I should have them in a few minutes and then never doing what they claimed the were going to do, I left a message for Cary yesterday telling him that since his customer service SUCKED so bad prior to me spending any money with them , that they can cancel my order, because if I got the pipes and something was wrong, I can only imagine how bad their customer service would SUCK once they had my money. Not to mention, you would think they would have photos of their products on their webpage which they don't!!!!

So I have decided to go with the V&H High Outputs again, because they sound awesome and produce loads of power!!!!

dresser duals are true duals. I had them on my setup with the hi outputs but they were way too loud for me. Sounded awesome but too loud.

I have since decattted my stock header.

If you're looking for a set a V&H dresser duals I have a set if interested.

I have the VH Power Duals and Hi Outputs. Nice deep rumble. They are loud, however.  After a several hours ride my ears would ring. I do like them a lot.

I have a 2011 SESG and have the Hi-Output slip-ons and have ordered the Power Duals.  I did a fair amount of research including calls out to V&H for clarification.  The only thing I would add to the advice you have already been given, is that V&H says that the Power Duals are a better choice as they provide the correct amount of back pressure. A lengthily, technical explanation followed, and if you want that information merely call V&H and talk to a rep. I was satisfied with the explanation. Moreover, my understanding is that the Power Duals do not have a catalytic converter which is why they have a disclaimer that states they, "May not be street legal in all States", however, this feature (or lack thereof) further reduces heat.

I'm sure you are aware that you will need some adjustment to your ECM and V&H has their "Fuelpac". Most techs here will steer you toward a TTS or a Racetuner, both are more accurate and provide more impressive Dyno results, also they are more expensive.  On the V&H website there are videos about installing both if you are planning to do this yourself.  IF you are handy AND you are going with a TTS or Racetuner you MIGHT want to consider cutting OUT the catalytic converter and welding it back together, I looked at this too, but it is beyond what I can do in my garage.

Finally, I go places where there are "events" that draw groups of riders. I have tracked down a few of these installations and listened to the pipes and spoke with the owners. I made the choice to go with this one.

Same power duals/HO slips setup here on my RG.
Like the sound, not REAL loud, but a nice balance between "above stock and bleeding ears" sound levels.
That being said next winter I'm going back to the 2-1 Propipe and leave a dummy muffler hang to fill the saddlebag cutout.
Something irks me about leaving power on the table hahaha
