Do I need a tuner right away?
« on: August 24, 2013, 08:27:04 PM »

Going to reinstall the Fullsac CX pipe on the SERGU. It is stock with the ventilator AC. Gonna put 2013 stock CVO mufflers on it. Do I need to add a tuner? Or can I wait on that till I add after market slipon's or recore the mufflers with Fullsac cores? Will the ECM adjust for the headpipe? Just trying to get the SERGU running before winter sets in. Will hopefully be able to do more next year as $$$$$ allows. I used the CVO 2" cores off the SERGU for a different bike, so they are not available to use this time. Thanks Rick

You don't need to retune until you change out the muffler cores. The head pipe itself will make no difference... the stock mufflers are the point of restriction.

Not sure i agree, i would tune if i were change out the pipe.  I know most folks do not tune for the slp ons.  The statement above would lead one to believe they need to retune for only slip ons, at least thats how i am reading it.

I tend to agree.....removing the cat is a big change and since it's running lean already it should be re-tuned. But if you buy the tuner from Fullsac  he should be able to send you a map that will be close until you finish your mods.

"Need"?  No.  You will benefit from a tuner though, even with a stock bike.

Sent from my iPad, probably while I'm pooping.

If I was to ever buy a new bike, the very first thing I would do is buy a TTS and tune it to make it run cooler and as good as it can in that configuration.
Then the fun would start.
