I have to say I was pretty lucky with my 06 CUSE. Got 7 good years and 38K miles out of it. Had one small oil leak after the first year. Traded it in on a 14 back in Oct. Got a call form the dealer a week later that when the tech took my trade out for the CPOI ( Certified pre-owned insp ) the cam bearings exploded and trashed the motor. We took it on a 900 mile trip the week before the trade and everything seemed normal. Or normal HD

Can't help but be curious about the dealer's call.  Whining, complaining, trying to backdoor some payback he didn't have the nerve to ask for directly, just sharing, just passing it on because it seemed interesting or something else entirely?  How'd the guy seem when he called?

Kinda of a long story, but : Took the bike to GMR for tuning at about the first week of ownership. Only had about 125 miles at that point. Steve said the clutch was slipping pretty bad so I OKed the installation of a stiffer spring. After picking the bike up from Steve I noticed that the stiffer spring had changed the release point a lot to where the bike was trying to creep at a stop. I should mention here that the clutch to me never felt right from the first day. Had a little chatter/vibration at take off. Took it back to Steve to take a look at the clutch and to tweak my map a little. Three runs into the tune, the clutch blew out. Dead in the water. I purchased the bike from a dealer over two hours away, but since Steve does tuning for a dealer closer and the fact he has a good relationship with them , he made the call and had them pick up the bike. While the bike was in the shop, I got the standard call from Mother Harley asking about my satisfaction with my new purchase. I said yea, but, the clutch sucks. She asked if I had called my dealer about this issue and I said no, didn't really have time considering the circumstances. Within a couple of hours, the selling dealer calls me asking why I didn't call him about this issue. Guesss mother Hd called them. So I said given the circumstances, not sure what you could of done. Then he said OH by the way, your trade in just blew up. He wasn't bitching at all. Even said the mothership chipped in for new cases given that I had a complete record of all my services which I did myself. In the meantime, dealer # 2 was repairing the clutch twice, the first time with the SE spring, which still didn't work, then the second time back to the stock spring. So I've got the bike back, but to me the clutch still sucks. So now I'm considering my next more. On the 06, I had noticed that the bike was starting to sound a little different, but no so bad that I was worried about taking it on a trip right before we traded it in. Guess the Harley gods were on my side on that one.

Love my CVO and wouldn't trade it, however I have had some issues but between myself and the dealership those issues are being resolved.  I had a clutch go out at 22k (other bikes I havent had this issue and had many more miles the dealership took care of it at cost)  the normal seat seperating (covered under warranty) the lastest is a shock leaking but they where not CVO shocks ( I am short and went with a shorter shock).   So far the benefits of my Ultra Roadglide outweigh any negatives I have had.

OK, saw this post the other day and thought I might be a little late getting in, but since it is still active, here are some thoughts.

The "Band of Brothers and Sisters" that own Harley's, and especially CVO's, obviously have a common interest. That interest brings us together and gives us the right to comment, brag, share, complain, and generally rant (good and bad) about our common interest. But like a family, we can pick on each other, but if an outsider tries it, look out.  You have to walk a (few thousand) miles in our shoes, then you have earned that right. That stated, we are riding high performance machines that many of us tease into giving us every ounce of speed and torque we can possibly find, and (many of us) push the limit of the equipment and ourselves to, and over, that edge frequently.

Yeah that makes them break, yeah we complain, but we learn, and we go back and try to make them better.  That is not "negativity" IMO it is part of the experience.  Some of these posts have honestly stated that the Goldwing (for example) is great but it doesn't rock you, kiss Grandma, you just rode your metric cruiser.

We're gonna argue, we're gonna fight a little, we might get loud and we might go out back and roll up our sleeves, but when a guy needs some help, needs a tow, even needs a few bucks for his kid's team, he finds it here in the HD riding family. Whether you have had a problem with your bike, or a dealer, or even the MoCo I contend that it is better here than elsewhere, and Honda's have problems too, and so does everyone else.

I have been a Screamin Eagle Rider since 2000. I loved every mile. Then I bought the 04' And loved every mile. Then I bought the 10' with the 110 engine. I heard all the top end noise and was scared to death. Thanks to this forum I have calmed down a bit. I learned that I am not alone. And that not all the 110's scatter. That is somewhat of a relief to me.
I also went and looked at the 14's this past weekend. I like them. The new style of the saddle bags and tour paks make the 13's and older look dated. This really bums me out because my next bike was gonna be the 12' Ultra O/B/W.  Now I am rethinking things.
i love my o/b/w. i don't refer to it as the older dated look, it is the nastalgic look, i like that better. the new streamlined look reminds me of that ugly victory bike, we have a cop in town that rides one and i have always thought that it was fuguly. my flossie is a great riding bike, she has 20,000 miles on her now and i plan to keep her for a while!!!

Among all of the HDs I have had over the last 40 years I have had 2 CVOs a 2003 SEEG Blue/Black, the bike was great, the only problem was a high speed wobble (tank slapper) at 100 mph. Not the bikes fault, my fault, earlier the same day I had a dealer install a set of new tires, after I finally got the bike pulled off to the side of the road, noticed there were no wheel weights on the front wheel and tire inflation was under spec., my bad for not checking before I left the dealer.

Present bike is a 2010 CVO Ultra, now has the Crate HD120R, only mods Tman 625 Cams, 58mm TB, 5.4G injectors bike runs great. Previous CVO 110 ran great not many mods mostly exhaust, it ran great, sold the engine and it still runs great.

I think a lot of the problems (not all) with the CVOs are caused by us, also most of us on this website put more miles on our bikes than the average HD Bike owner, and if you out miles you do have to maintain the bike and the possibility of problems grow with the more miles you put on, I am talking about 15,000 - 20,000 mile a year. I think the majority of riders average 4,000 - 5,000 miles a year.

I'm like a majority of CVO owners. I would much rather have a mildly built 103, but it is what it is  :furious3:

Love my 2013 CVO Ultra.  Almost 10k miles and runs and handles great.  Seems some aren't that lucky.  Don't know why since they all come off the same assembly line.

I've logged over 20,000 miles on my CVO without an issue. My friends have done the same. All I hear on hear on this forum is how the lifters fail, the cranks fail, and especially how terrible HD is treating people. It's becoming a downer and the three of us in my group with CVO's don't even want to login. We love riding and have done for decades. We love our bikes and have absolutely no issues. My dealer doesn't know know of any real issues with the 110's in particular. The 2014's look nice but not enough for me to trade my Kryptonite. I don't hate the 14's at all and don't really think they will have any great issues. I know I don't post cause I'm out riding. My CVO is awesome!

Guessing

Worker quality is somewhat consistent +-
Parts quality has a known failure rate Dependant upon design choices  & material choices ... + ---

My guess - failure from parts more common than failure from human assembly issues

I only had one issue with a oil leak.  It was fixed.  Still no problems.  But it took a little while to get the parts.

Love it,   Todd
