Help Identifying Old Fender Tip Lens Cover if Someone Knows?
« on: August 26, 2013, 11:38:41 AM »

Have looked and can't find a source.  No recollection if its aftermarket or MoCo.  Anyone know where to get this bar-and-shield-ish looking fender tip lens cover?

Harley Davidson part.  Front or rear #59081-96  Make sure to check if it fits your bike.

Thanks very much.  I wasted an hour last night and couldn't find the thing.  Finally gave up and asked the horde.  The horde always comes through :2vrolijk_21: .

Thanks Lew.  The rail wasn't the object of my affection this time though.  It was that silly little lens cover just above it.

It's for a project on the Road King.  Since I dragged the new-to-me-old Bushtec trailer home a few weeks ago figured I might as well put a hitch on the Road King too.  Had planned ahead for that when I built the bike and had the three hitch brackets in hand when the powder coating was done.  Powder coated to match or not still need to hide it from the rear some.

Think rather than the V-Rail like is on the old Road Glide I'm going to use an old Springer style 95th Anniversary leather mud flap.  The fringe will go with the footboard fringe and the burgundy welt bead on it will go with the footboard fringe and the windshield bag and (eventually) the saddle.  If I put the mud flap on the back fender will need the rear fender light to hide the mounting hardware though.  Then if I put the light on I like that old lens cover pictured above.  This stuff just never stops.  Details chasing details...

Probably be a couple weeks or longer before the parts are here and then have time to do it.  The old 95th Anniversary mud flaps from the Springer line work fine on FLH fenders so that's not a problem.  But they're obsolete and have been for awhile.  Apparently the Springer guys horde them so the prices are stupid when you find them.  Think I scored one last night for $150.  That was $75 to $100 less than I saw the market bearing for them over the last several months of various online sales that could be tracked.  So guess I'm happy with the price.
