I'm not sure what they're calling this weekend, Bike America or something like that, but it's all about crotch rockets showing off on public roads.
I heard on the news this morning that 30 were arrested last night with their bike strapped to a flat bed, hauled away and they were arrested.
This has been in the St. Louis area for the past several years and this year the police say zero tolerance for stunt riding on public streets. There are supposed to be thousands of bikes doing this type of riding.
Apparently only around five were doing stunts and they called themselves professionals.
Not only do they run the roads doing 70 mph wheelies, but they block the roads and weave in and out of traffic without any regard to others.
I'm not a proponent of this type of riding. In my younger years of riding I did my fair share of stupid stunts. I had this really well balanced Triumph T-100 500cc that I could pull up and just ride for miles at around 50 mph, it felt comfortable. I’m sure with the newer technology of the sport bikes today, this is what the guys feel now when they do their stunts. But I guess the difference was that I only did this alone on isolated secondary roads where only I was at risk.
So if you’re in the St. Louis area this weekend keep a look out in your mirrors for bikes zooming by on their rear wheels.
