I am 75 yrs young and reached the point in life of thinking of going to a trike. I just sold my 2011 CVO streetglide this week. the reason being that my wife rides with me 95% of the time and parking it and moving it around has become a problem with the weight of the bike. In 2005 I had a Softail deluxe and loved it. I sat lower and had no problems moving it around. I took a trike out and had a hard time getting used to it. Not sure if it is the answer. then I saw the CVO Deluxe and thought I might go with that. It is lower and smaller then the streetglide and I know I could handle it. then again not getting any younger maybe now is the time for a trike. I am looking into both sides. Any thoughts?

You got to be comfortable with yourself and the bike you choose.  You might need to do a little give and take type decision to be happy.  Im slowly thinking about a TriG and without a doubt I will be there in the future due to neck and back damage that affect my legs also.  If you think the Deluxe is a good match for you now, you can always trade it in later once you feel the Trike is a better option.

The trade your dealer had offered for the Street Glide against a new trike seemed reasonable.  I remember that from your other thread mulling these questions.  What was it about the trike that made such a poor first impression?

I have a streetglide wife has a deluxe after riding both I don't think you would be happy on a deluxe after a glide

I also have been lookin at the 2014 trikes for my father in law hes had hip replaced and needs the other from what ive seen the trike is great and seem to hold their value...just my opinion Terry

Reply about dealer, he offered me $23000 on trade,book value by Kelly blue book $ 29,600. I just sold my streetglide for $ 28000.00 don't tell me it was a fair trade offer from the dealer.I had an 05 deluxe the first year they came out,loved it, put sundowner seat and higher backrest for my wife. she was very comfortable on it.Then I went to an 08 streetglide  for running on the interstate.for long trips. Then in August of 2010 bought the 2011 cvo streetglide. I have not had any problems and enjoyed riding it,the problem is moving it around and being carefull where to park it.At 75 I don't think at this time I need a trike,they scare me to death riding one.Looked at the CVO Deluxe today and felt right at home on it. Lower to the ground and less weight. I just sold my large log home and am down sizing to a small ranch. why not downsize my bike?

I'd like to answer as to the getting used to Trike issue.  It's not something you will get used to the first time on it.  I traded for a Trike just 6 weeks ago.  Due to some health issues, neither my wife nor I were feeling safe on my Ultra.  We decided to visit the idea of a Trike.  I was working in Rapid City, so I scheduled a test ride.  I got on the bike, 30 feet in front of me was a concrete pillar.  I started to move and could not turn the Trike away from the pillar.  I had to stop and mentally shift gears in order to continue.  I started steering like a car and did fine.  Took me a few hundred miles to really get comfortable though.

Actually from your other thread wherein you'd asked pretty much the same question you're asking here I thought (perhaps mistakenly) you'd given the impression the trade offer seemed reasonable and was merely writing here from that impression.....

Just found the other thread and see now where the impression and mistaken impression came from.

At age 75 I still have no problems handling my 2011 street glide ,the problem is my wife rides with me 95% of the time. Some times I have to watch where I park so I can get out, and stopping for in tight places.Thinking maybe time for to look at going to a trike. My dealer tells me since I only have 4,644 miles on the CVO I should trike it and have a CVO trike. He is telling me the coast would be around $ 15,000. Should I spend that kind of money or sell it and just buy a new one for around my bike and $5,000?

The reference to the $5k difference is what I was remembering and was now thinking it was the trade offer.  See now that it need not have been read that way.  So worry not.  If you start a third thread asking again what everyone's impressions of you going to a trike might be I'll be sure and keep the details correctly remembered.

Sorry about that, still waiting to demo a trike, but I looked at cvo deluxe and felt at home on it. I had one in 05 when they first came out and felt comfortable on it. My wife also loved it and since we are both short people I think by down sizing  it would be a better choice at this time
