Neutral switch probably going bad.  They're easy to replace though.

Water could certainly short that little switch, and it probably dried out 2 hours later.

Does it work OK now? If it does, I wouldn't worry about it.

Remove the electrical connectors, blow them out with a little contact cleaner spray and let them dry thoroughly, apply some dielectric grease and reinstall.  If it was moisture causing the problem that will probably take care of it.

Have seen that happen to them Ken.  Problem is, since they're supposed to be sealed against such intrusions, it becomes a recurrent thing.  They're probably corroding/crudding up a bit inside as it happens too.

I was thinking of the 04 and not the newer bike Stu.  It's still a pretty easy part to replace though.  Especially if it's under warranty.  If the shop won't warrant it if they can't see it soak it with a hose for awhile to try and recreate just before you go to the shop.

Stu, that happened to me on the way back from Sturgis, same thing.  Light went out after the scooter dried out.

Stu - just remember that dielectric grease is like anti-seize... a little goes a long way. Don't load it up...

Just did that little procedure.  I found a tube of dielectric grease too.   See if it lasts.   Thanks you Guys again.

Are you sure the N stands for neutral Stu  :nixweiss:  On your MC I thought it meant "not enough".  :P

Really bad rain ??????? that's an understatement.  ::) Was the worst I've seen in 50 + years of riding.  :nervous:
Unfortunately I was in the race mode... No windshield, no rain gear.  >:(  Had to check the saddlebags for alligators when I got home. First time I've ever experienced a motor miss due to rain.
Same on Sunday with the OL on the back, except we had rain gear, and a windshield. Managed to stay slightly ahead of it.
Took the  :bananarock: out today. Got back an hour ago, DRY, for NHRA racing on tv. Just had tornado warnings come over the celluler....Florida living at its best.

John - Stuey has told me you're a tough, old skool rider... You got soaked like never before, and you took your woman out again in it the next day! She's apparently pretty tough, too!  :drink:
