I hope this is OK; I put together a list of the major differences between a 2013 Ultra Limited and a 2014 Ultra Limited from Harley's web site specs. I realize this for a non CVO, I hope it's OK and you find of value. It really shows that the 2014's are a vastly different bike. Enjoy



2013 Limited vs. 2014 Limited

•   Base Black went from $24,199 to $25,899. $1,700 More
•   Length increased from 98.6 inches to 102.4 inches. 3.8 inches more
•   Seat Height is the same
•   Ground Clearance increased from 5.1 inches to 5.3 inches
•   Tire sizes stayed the same
•   Fuel and oil capacity is the same
•   Weight in Running Order went from 911 lbs. to 896 lbs. a reduction of 15 lbs.
•   Luggage capacity went from 4.52 cu ft. to 4.7 cu ft.
•   Engine torque went from 100 ft-lb at 3,250 to 105.5 ft-lb at 3,750.
•   Engine Bore listed shows 3.875 for the 2013 and 3.87 for the 2014
•   Engine stroke shows 4.38 for the 2013 and 4.374 for the 2014
•   Displacement shows 103 cu in for the 2013 and 103.1 for the 2014
•   Compression ratio went from 9.6:1 to 10:1.
•   Fuel economy estimate stayed the same at 42 mpg.
•   Lean angle went from 33 degree (Right) to 31.9,  (Left) 31 degrees to 31.8.
•   Gear ratio’s stayed the same

These are just the Specs. As we know; the braking system was upgraded with the new Reflex Anti-Braking system that includes Linked front and rear brakes. Improved lighting with LED lights all around, new steering head with stiffer front forks, upgraded comfort systems including seating, airflow management, hand controls and heat management, all new saddlebags and tour-pak luggage carriers with greater capacity, easy opening and sleeker styling, new standard infotainment system that includes navigation, a large color screen that allows you to make changes with voice activation for music, phone and GPS.
These are the major changes made to the 2014 Ultra Limited; there are too many smaller and more technical changes to list. If you are like me; all of this means nothing unless it results in a motorcycle that performs, handles and brakes substantially better. For me, the 2014 delivers. This is a motorcycle you must ride to fully appreciate.

Thanks for your time on the comparison.  But have to ask how is it lighter.  Would one expect the different bags and tourpak. 

If this apples to apples is true then wouldn't the Cvo Ultra Limited hold true to a lighter weight.  Just curious.

All in all If I went back to full touring again I would surely Have to think very hard on justifying the huge difference in the price.

Thank you. Harley claims that the wheels are lighter on the 2014 Limited Vs the previous model. That would be a very good place to loose weight. They reduced the size of the front fender, again, a good place to reduce weight. The new smaller brake disc would also weigh much less. It is my guess that Harley looked at all the components that would directly effect ride and handling. Reducing weight in the spinning wheel mass would directly effect how the bike feels in a positive way.

Thank you, I really find it interesting that Harley offered a large selection of two tone paint, Black and then "custom" with only one color/graphic's design. I wish I knew the story behind why Harley offered this one paint option outside of the norm. It really does not cost a lot over the two tone but its a completely different paint with much more metallic. I love it and insisted on the color for my new Limited. My dealer traveled a pretty good distance to dealer trade and pickup what I wanted.

I really appreciate the compliment. The bike I traded was a blue 2007 SE Ultra. I have had friends tell me they prefer the paint on my new bike over the blue on my old CVO.
