Remove 07 security
« on: September 27, 2013, 11:35:50 PM »

I have somehow lost my fob. Bought the CVO used from dealer and it only came with the one.
The security code provided by the dealer doesn't work. I should have tested it sooner. Now I have to get the bike to the dealer to get a new fob sync and no trailer. Any way to disable the system so I can start it and get it to the shop?

If you don't have the five numbers code I think you won't be able to start the engine as long as it's the purpose of the security system...
Can't you get the code from the first owner?

nope.  even if you remove the tssm to get rid of the security, you still have to flash the ecm so that it knows there is no security system.  otherwise, it wouldn't be much of a security system.

i know hindsight is 20/20, but that's why it is so important to set your security code, before you even leave the dealership.  it only takes about 30 seconds and can save you hours of grief later.

Figured I would be SOL on this but it never hurts to ask.
Yes, the lesson learned is to always test the code and not assume it will work.

For the original owner, no.  :(

Time to find a trailer.

Are you returning it to the dealer you purchased the bike from?? If so I'd have them pick it up since they only provided you one fob and incorrect code.... that's the least they can do for your troubles. :nixweiss:

My thoughts exactly!

OP, if you haven't tried it yet it may be worth a shot; my '07 codes had never been changed from the factory default of 1234 when I bought it in 2009. Just be sure to follow the procedure in your manual exactly as described.

when i bought my 2007 road king, my 2010 roadglide, and my 2013 cvo, all were set to the last 5 of the vin number.  different dealers/owners as well so that may be worth a try too.

No luck with anything. Time to throw in the towel and haul it to the dealer.

There I am, sitting in the recliner and feeling down about the bike when my husky decides that jumping on me and nipping at my hands is the best way to cheer me up. What the heck, why not? We commenced to playing (him biting me gently and pawing at me while I try to avoid said teeth and paws) for a few minutes. What I didn't plan on was the remote control for the TV getting pushed between the seat and side arm of the recliner from the dog jumping on it! I put the legs up and look underneath but there is no TV remote to be seen. Huh? Well, if it isn't under the chair then it must be in it. I open the access flap on the back and both the TV remote and Harley fob fall out! He's such a good boy!

Only thing I can think of is I dropped the key in the recliner along with a few other items when I came home the other day. I never noticed that it fell in. Hell, I looked under that darn thing at least three times trying to find the fob!

Using the incredible power of hindsight I promptly took the fob to the bike and reset the security code to something I can remember.
Whoohoooo!

awesome!  :2vrolijk_21:

glad to hear that needlessly spending money was not involved, and that you now remember your security code.  next question, do you know how to use it?  good idea to practice a couple of times so that if/when you need it, you're not stuck getting yourself frustrated.

oh, and you might want to see about getting another fob :D
