2014 Air Cooled and Twin Cooled
« on: October 10, 2013, 11:09:35 PM »

Direct Link has now successfully tuned several Air Cooled 2014 bikes and they tuned and flashed successfully today a Twin Cooled 2014. No issues were reported by the tuner and the customer loved the improvement. Technoresearch was linked into the tuners computer while the tuning and flashing occured all went smoothly.

Me too.  The target fuel for the WB's is a great feature and wish it was in other helper tuning programs.

Are you playing with yours on the street?

I didn't make the jump to buying the Techno Research yet, so I'm not clear on what this means.  Can you explain?  I think the TR/DL looks like a nice tuning system, but I think I'm more drawn to it for the wide band tuning features since that can be used regardless of tuning system used.

You can use just about any WB controller, run it through Direct Link, and the AutoCreate function they have allows for a quick and accurate way to do the VE tables. Depending on how you run the dyno, you can adjust the VE's to the AFR/Lambda Target quickly. The entire VE table including WOT for both front and rear in the same data run. Start the strip chart for data collection, run the bike, save the strip chart, pull up each cylinder and push go and the Autocreate will fill in every cell you hit on the dyno then do the calculation to move the VE to the Target AFR/Lambda. You can Autocreate each cylinder seperately or at the same time.

Some systems will only allow you to target 13.2 across the board.  DL allows you to target what you want. I do start off targeting 13.2, but for the final VE mapping I like to target how the bike is going to be going down the road. 14.2 light cruise, 13-12.8 WOT.  I understand that this is suppose to work with the math, but...... A whole AFR might be much and I like to do it my way.  I haven't seen any downside to it.  Besides a little more time on my part.

The way you are doing it makes sense to me.  I haven't done as much as I should have yet with the Twin Scan, but that system appeared to allow the use of the afr table settings to factor in on the afr bikes.  The little bit that I played with it, I couldn't figure out how to get the flashed lambda table to work in conjunction with the collected data.  I can't quite justify the cost of the TR/DL system yet, but syncing the wide band with the ecm data is one key feature that I find intriguing.
