Handle bar options
« on: October 14, 2013, 08:28:56 PM »

Have a 2011 CVO convertible for my wife.  She hates the Z bars.  Looking to find something more rounded like the 2010 softail deluxe.  Also any options for a riser to help her reach them better.  She is 5'3''.  Options the dealer has presented were switching to the newest handlebars on the current 2014 convertible or switching to a set of handlebars from a CVO breakout.  Any recommendations on a riser?  Dealer hasn't found any.  Thanks

handlebars seem to be a personal choice.   I would stick with the wires on the inside.

HD make 2 risers that fit.  4" and 6" pull backs.

I have some 6" new that I would make available if you wish to go that way.   I bought them to see fitment on my 2010, but they didn't work with my fairing well and I would have to have bought a lot of cables.

Go with stock 2010 Convertible bars with the 4" pull back. Should work with stock cables and still allow you to use stock mini fairing/windshield.

Once I make a decision I will probably part with the Z bars.  Any pics of the bars?

There is no 2014 convertible

I know there is only approximately a quarter inch difference in pullback from the 4 and 6 inch HD pullback risers, but that is a worthy difference for me- and might also be worth it to DocHog.

Just FYI- I added the 6" pullback riser to my 2010 and had to change the brake line- actually, all the stock cables worked, but the lines didn't look clean.
