Very creative!
Great Job!
I'd love to see how your Radar detector is mounted! Thanks!
I didn't want to go with a remote detector, as I've heard that rain can kill a detector quicker than anything, plus I wanted to be able to use this detector in my other rides, so it needed to be removable.
The big problem for a Road Glide is the width of the windshield...it just is so wide that you need to get your detector out to the side of it, unless your windshield is very short and you can shoot over the top of it. That and the fact that your detector will not pick up a laser being shot at you if your detector is behind a tinted windshield. Mine is a medium smoke Freedom shield, which I was told would render picking up laser impossible.
My current setup is a RAM mount on the two control bolts to the clutch. Then I have one of their ugly black 6" clamps topped off by a 2" x 4" RAM platform to which I mount the detector. It gives me just enough reach to the left side to be able to peek around the windshield.
I don't know if I'll keep the RAM system or not, but until I find a better option (or better looking), I'll stick with this for now.
I thought about a fairing mount of some sort, but drilling into the fairing was just out of the question for me, so...
I'll post pictures of the setup later this week coming up.
