Suzanne and I took a ride today to meet our new friends, Bob and Ilene...two of the many great people we met at the MV GTG. They live just North of Hot'Lanta, and we live in Birmingham, so we decided to meet in Sommervile, Ga this morning, roughly the same distance for all of us. We met about 10:45 CST at the Pay and Tote. From there we rode up Hwy 48/117 to Mentone, AL and had lunch and hot fudge cake at The Log Cabin Deli, a very old log stucture in the quaint little town. For those of you who have not discovered Mentone, it is on top of Lookout Mountain in Northeastern Alabama...nearby attractions are Desoto Falls, Desoto State Park, and Little River Canyon National Preserve. There are also some great Bed and Breakfast Inns located nearby.
After having lunch and admiring scooters, we rode along Lookout Mountain Parkway, through Desoto State Park, then over to Little River Canyon Falls. The fall colors were gorgeous and the company even better!!
After hanging at the falls, looking at other bikes (a lot of people riding that area today), we continued down Hwy 35, then parted ways. Suzanne and I rode back home on Hwy 411 and got home just after dark. Bob and Ilene got back to their home at about the same time.
It was great to see them both again, and we look forward to many more meetings in the future. We only took a few pics, as everyone was too busy visiting!!
