Well, just so you know, I didn't take the bike to this shop for a basic service, I had trouble on the road and this was the closest dealer for the bike to be towed to. While they were doing major work, I had them do a couple extras and one was change the fork oil. They will look at it, no problem, it's just the travel time there. Since they did tell me they took the forks apart, and I don't know why they would take them apart just to change the oil, I was looking for any other possibility why the forks wouldn't compress other than oil level. I will see what they say when they call me next Wednesday, if they will honor their warranty if I drain and reinstall the oil, I will do it myself. Thanks for all the responses.

Good luck getting it easily sorted.  Sucks breaking down and having to deal with things you'd never counted on when leaving.

I'd risk taking it to the Santa Maria H-D dealer and have them do the re-work after explaining what happened at the first dealer. A new set of trained eyes may spot a problem, and they're much closer.
