Added the GPS to the Street Glide last week end
« on: November 12, 2013, 04:33:08 PM »

I made the move and purchased the Garmin Zumo 660 ( with life time updates ) ;D Now I have no reason not to find my way to Maggie Valley in 2014, I needed an excuse to purchase this GPS and the GTG in MV 2014 was all I needed to justify my purchase. I never had one on a bike before so this is a little new to me this thing dose a lot more then just give directions wow !!. I went with the handle bar mount with the cable that cuts out the radio when giving directions. I will spend the spring and summer getting this down before the GTG in MV next year. I hope this a good quality unit and last a long time. The first location entered in was the address to the Holiday Motel in MV !!!!!!!!. Any feed back on this unit would be great. ( Please do not tell me this GPS will get me lost  :o )

Thanks

Congrats!  Did you internally run the cable in the bars?

I have had one for a few years now, it is a good durable unit.  Route planning took a little getting used to, as opposed to Microsoft Streets for instance, but after a while it will make sense.  (I don't like the way Garmin assumes that you are stopping at a waypoint.)  Screen is good size, visible in sunlight, audio instructions are clear.  I like the dashboard screen while riding, it has distance to next turn, street names, etc. The computer interphase works well and I like creating my own categories of map points.  There is a lot in there so take your time, it is a very worthwhile addition to your bike. If there is anything I can help you with don't hesitate........

I have had the 665 for almost 2 years and still love it! I have jumped on a plane every Friday afternoon for the last 11 weeks in a row and flown somewhere in the midwest (son plays football at Central MO) where I have no idea where I am going in my rental car and have used my 665 with the car mount every time (and yes, I used the MC icon to make myself feel better that I haven't been able to ride that whole time) and it never let me down. I certainly had no intention when I got it to use it anywhere other then on my bike but I fell so in love with it that I gave my Tom Tom I used to use to my buddy and never looked back. Cant wait to "re attach" it where it belongs and use it where it was meant to be used. Also love the XM on my bike that the 665 has. Almost exclusively listen to that now over everything else. Might be the best mod of all for me..

Got my 660 in early 2010 for my 09 SERG, wired it internally.  When I sold the bike, I kept the 660 but let the mount go.  Now its on my 12SERG, again totally wired internally, and through the NIM I installed which interrupts the radio or Ipod to give directions.  I also have another mount wired internally on my 13 SERK.  When I trade the 12 I will keep the 660, but they can have the mount.

Love the 660, it has over 75K miles on it, trouble free.  Many rain storms, and a snow storm, no issues.
