The intake closing number of that 7H dictates in no uncertain terms, that to optimize it's delivery, the compression needs to come up. At least 10.25.
Yes, that cam, and larger, will "bolt-in" under those S/E springs, and valve to valve is not an issue either with it's TDC numbers.

So I guess what's being said is: I can install these cams with no headwork and expect, hopefully, numbers around 103hp/115tq. That said, to maximize them to their potential and possibly bigger gains, I could cc the chambers and have them shaved to up the compression next year when I have more time. Is that a fair statement?
As I said early, I'm not planning on doing the heads right now, but I don't want to wait to install the cams if I can get significant gains for this year. I was mainly concerned if the bike would run poorly with the cams without the headwork, but it sounds like if tuned properly I'll be ok. Sounds like I win either way.
Thanks for all the input I really appreciate it!

Twism, you do win.
There are some that just want to spend your money.
Per your original post and your original needs the TW-7H will work fine.
That cam has worked for me, has worked for many others and I trust the advice from the Metal Dragon and Bob Woods.

You make a good point. Probably the main reason is, last winter I installed a big bore kit on my 07 Fatboy, changed the throttle body, cams, added CNC SE heads and installed new exhaust in time to take the bike to Phoenix in February. I coach professional football up here and our season just ended 2 weeks ago.cFrom May 27th until November 28th I've had 7 days off working an average of 13 hours a day. We haven't decided where we are going this February but I want to relax for a month and not do anything. I don't want to spent all of January in the shop rushing to get the bike ready for the February trip. This CVO is new to me and I said I was going to ride it the 1st year without doing anything to it, (not going to happen)so I'm trying to stop at cams for now.  We'll see if I get bored quickly and maybe I'll get them done. Like I said I wanted a relaxing off season but it never ends when it comes to these bikes...lol. Fisheye's bike looked so good with the coil relocation, I bought one as well. Gonna have the tank off so who knows...lol but I doubt it for now. BTW, it was -25 Celsius today.

your looking at around another couple hours for the heads, maybe 2 days to get them machined.well worth it.the CVO 110" motors have a lot of potential for good HP/TQ with VERY mild builds, because of EPA standards they set them with very low compression, heads flow way good enough stock for most, even fairly aggressive builds.the choke point is compression.probley the easiest motor to make decent HP since the 883 (just bore it to 1200,& mild headwork)BTW,my crew chief`s son was a big name QB for Edmonton (I think, one of the CFL teams)

What's his son's name? I coach for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL, but spend winter in Winnipeg, my wife's hometown. Maybe 2 hours for you to do the heads...remember, I'm a football coach, working on bikes is fairly new to me, more gaskets, more time, more money....lol. Great food for thought.

Actually an S&S .625 is a "bolt-in" as well, in the same aspect that a Wood 7H is.
Not trying to "spend" anyone's money, only rock-solid advice, from working with 100's of Wood cams since Bob Wood emerged on the HD scene in the mid-1990's.........take it or leave it.

Yes Jason Maas, I am assuming. A very good QB indeed. I believe he's coaching now in Toronto. Threw 22 straight completions against when I was coaching in Winnipeg. Thanks for bringing up bad memories...lol.

Twism, grrrr for knocking off my Stamps but congrats on winning the Grey Cup. I'm getting the TW-7H cams installed in my 110 early in January and as my builder and Chip "SBB" said, it's all in the tune. I'm changing to a D&D 2:1 Fat Cat pipe from my duals to get as much as I can and I'm putting all my trust in an independent, reputable tuner and builder in Abbotsford, BC. I'm going with the setup he suggests which is not far from what others on here using Wood's cams are running and getting good numbers. Too bad you weren't closer to Toronto to seek advice from Donny Petersen but you could always read his books which are great sources of information. Anyway, thanks for a great season, can't wait until training camp starts! :2vrolijk_21:

Big Dog,
Wish I could say sorry for beating the Stamps but I'm not...lol. They're a great team and a rival we love playing because it's almost always going to be a hard fought battle! Thanks for your input and I'm going to try and find those Donny Peterson books.
Interesting expansion draft today. Ottawa looks like they will be able to compete in year one with their pick ups.
Ride safe, Twism
