De gustibus non est disputandum (In matters of taste there is no dispute (right or wrong)).
That said, no opinion on the "looks" of the Indian lineup (or any bike) isn't worthwhile, for once, everyone gets to be right! However, Indians are "retro" in appearance, so much so, you start off with a bike that looks antique. I thought that was part of the marketing concept, old look, modern mechanics. Conversely, the "look" of the Victory Vision Tour is futuristic to the point of earning the nickname the "Judge Dredd Bike". Apparently there is a market for these products and everything in between. As far as copying goes, the rule is, "If it sells, copy it immediately", all manufacturer's do it, extensively.
I rode a Chief (Vintage) in Daytona last year, nice bike, nice ride, kinda like a Road King. Not sure I would like detailing all that fringe, but I enjoyed the ride. I also tried a neighbor's Vision, I do not like the looks of it, but like the Goldwing, wonderfully functional, but not for me. I do feel you guys have it right though, the competition should make Harley Davidson better, and that is a good thing for us all.
