Hotrod,

I can honestly tell you that I have had absolutley no regrets with this bike! I wish it were easier to just change things, EPA wise, such as pipes ect. but I'm sure  more options  and answers will come with time. My last bike was an 04 ultra classic that I loved, but was stolen, so I was fortunate enough to replace her with the 07 flhtcuse2 & can say that so far has lived up to all my expectations. And from what I can see from other peoples upgrades, performance wise, looks like I won't be disppointed when I start upgrading mine.

Please realize this is a jaded reply.   I knew exactly what I was getting into when I bought it, but still I am not thrilled it was just the best alternative while trying to keep a radio / cb / CD Player.

I have also been told by 2 different dealers so far that the Blue Tooth Option for 500 bucks is a waste of money ... and I respect both dealers that told me this, although as much as I am on the phone I love my bluetooth in the car and may have to bite the bullet and try it for myself .. I use about 3600 minutes a month.

I personally would not have been looking at the 06 / 07 and was perfectly content with my 05 Cherry up and until it was prematurely taken from me during the accident.

That being said:

I couldnt find a new 06 SEUC Autumn Haze for MSRP.

My issues are:

Bike runs to damn hot on the rear cylinder
The Cam is purely an EPA Cam and has no overlap, and yet has stepped up to a higher CC engine that is easily spanked by an 04 / 05 103 stock ... that is stock to stock.

Did I mention the heat off the rear cylinder :)

The GPS is a TURD that resides in the Radio with no user functionality it wants you to ride on the highway and there is no real way around it other than to have it keep telling you to turn around wrong way etc.  It will take you to the Harley Dealers except for one or 2 so far where it has the wrong directions go figure that one.  I hate the fact I had to pay for a GPS that I now have to go out and buy a Zuma or Street Pilot to get a product worth having ...  so 34k now plus another 1100.

The heated seat has 2 settings hot and really hot ... no where in between

The Air Cleaner on the 3 other SE for the year come with open Air Cleaners yet on the ultra you have to buy an Open Air Filter kit and SERT. Road King, Dyna, and Springer (B motor) And you buy the items and have them installed you run the risk when you do this of having the dealer say sorry no warranty for you ...  Well the heat is worth removing so on goes the race tuner for warranty and the Auto Tune when its ready for the rest of the time.

Yes when having something very new like this cam technology it is going to take some time to get cam's and upgrades, but doesnt mean I have to like the wait.

I think this years paint on the Ultra's was a HUGE Step backwards compared to the last 3 years of Paint Jobs by the Moto you pay this much for the bike you should at least get a decent paint job on mine day 1 from dealer it needs a new front fender because there was a run in the paint, so here goes 18 weeks and hoping that the color match is going to be good.  I am not complaining about the dealer here, just the lack of Q/A on a 34k bike it should have never shipped like that.

The autolocks I think are an improvement, the way the keyfobs work takes some time to get used to, but I dont think they are bad like some others do.

I would have preferred the 05 headlight like the Euro models vs. this one they have on there.   I am just starting to raise its beam hopefully I can find a happy medium.

I am stoked that the engine has a 200 static compression when starting hence the compression releases it means there are possibilities to this motor, but 92 horsepower with open air cleaner on a 110 is umm piss poor ....and thats with the good tune.

The other problem I have found and many others have found it is the tranny in 4th and 5th gear chattering ....  Plus a whine in first gear under hard decell.   Overall it the tranny was a great addition to the bike and should of been there in 06.

And another complaint is how the hell do you release a radio system and put out 3 different firmware and then have to settle on which one does the least funky things.

Ohh and why in the hell would you put floating rotors on the front of a bike and not match the rear, but instead on a 34k machine put a solid rotor on.

Like I said this was jaded before I ever took delivery and will tell you the guys at Curly's Harley Davidson Chris Harley and Clay the sales Manager and Joe the Service Manager and Jim the Shop Lead have all be EXCEPTIONAL folk to deal with and I would gladly deal with them again.  We did this deal over the phone having never met them before and it went off fantastically.   Its another one of those dealers I have to say others need to model after.   Walking through the store your asked how your doing, can they help you find something, take you to the person you need to talk to.
It will be one of the first survey's I can write and feel good about doing it.   Sometimes the sales guy gets screwed because something else was bad, well in this case I can hit all 5's and basically copy and paste out the bottom here and put it on the survey.

I post this only to help neophytes in the exuberence to get a bike that they shop for MSRP and a place that actually gives a damn about helping them and making the purchase a memorable one.

/hats off to Curly's and Crew

Bike = 34k plus 1100 for GPS, 750 for Pipes, 139 for Roll Own Air Cleaner with Zippers Element, 366 for SERT for 07 version F.

I also hate the Dash board inset above the speedo and Tach it cant before removed without you having to fill the holes in the dash or replacing inner fairing with a non drilled one.   The dash cover in my opinion looks stupid and stops you from using a dash mount for the Harley external Garmin GPS or the Dash Mount Radar Dectector.
WTF it should of been an option give it to the people, but let them decide if they want it on the bike vs. 2 good size holes just to the left and right respectively of the tach / speedo.

Sorry I am done ...  pain meds arent working so you got a cranky list of my complaints.

Hey Cigarmike!

I think you and I are the only ones that like the silver engine.  I was originally in the market for a Roadglide because of that silver motor.  Saw the CUSE on the floor and I was a lost puppy.

The black motors look good, but the silver stands up with all that chrome  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Just my exceedingly rare opinion...

Unbalanced,
Thanks for posting with such honesty, although I'm a couple of years off from an SE Ultra purchase it's interesting to read through the items people are not happy with. I already love the bike and can't wait to get one and it's good to have things to "look out" for, or at least be aware of.

Thanks,
Ed

Well, I have to say I love it. I am a CVO buyer and wanted to get the 06 when it first came out but then said what are you nuts 35K for a bike. So I went off and got a great deal on a 04 ultra and built up the motor and was a happy camper until a lady thought I would look better on the ground with a dislocated hip. If there was a word from above I paid attention and said OK I will spend 35K for a bike and waited for the 07 to come out. I have my B/O got her in July, still have lots of pain from the crash but love the bike. Sure it would be nice to have it set up a tad different but at the end of the day, the bike is great, runs strong, and the GPS for me is a way to get to a place after I have done my best to get lost going from point a to b. So if you are thinking about getting one stop thinking and do it. You wont be sorry and if you are there is always EBay. [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif]

[smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]  Harry, Nice and thorughly thoughout write up.  Tommy, don't forget that Harry is riding a bike like yours because his Cherry SEEG was destroyed and almost took him with it.  The current CVO he had a choice of is the ultra.  Lets not shoot the messager, he is just giving his opinion, which is what our friend from Texas, Hotrodracer asked for.  An opinion.  What is yours?  Being a Libra, I like it when I get two sides to think about.   ;)

I think it looks real good sitting there in the garage.  Since I unloaded it (the B&O) late Monday it has been raining almost constantly so I haven't even had a chance to ride it yet.  Still wet and cold but I am hopeful that tomorrow morning it may clear off and I'll play hookey for a couple hours.

From what I've heard about the gps I agree that it is worthless. But I've got my Garmin 2720 anyway so no biggie.  Would have taken the $ for that in chrome though!  Guess I'll just have to see how bad the heat is and go from there.  Hopefully my tranny won't be too noisy - Redline Heavy Shockproof ordered today and on the way.
